Default Znote 3415W and OS'es

I just ordered a Znote 3415W, happy with the speccs and many seem to be happy with their Znote's aswell, but there is a question I have.

What OS'es can be used on it really? Ubuntu? Or is it only Vista?

I'm aware that officialy the 3415W don't work with XP, I can accept that, but I want to know why it won't work and what don't work if anyone can answer those questions.

Any recommended OS'es for the 3415W? (I've got a few copies of Vista Buisness laying around thanks to my fathers work so in "worst case" I'll go with that, else I'd stick to XP )

Choose OS and then you can start to download the drivers you need. The 3415 is also known as compal fl90, and the drivers for the fl90 works on the 3415. 3415 supports XP but Zepto doesnt have its own drivers. Sorry for my english, need sleep.

Well our desicion to not support XP on the 3214/3414/3215/3415W are that when we got the first batch of machines there where not a full driver set that was WHQL for XP for the model. This has later been updated by Compal, but there are still one application for the machines that is not supported in XP and that is the webcam application. This alone is enough for us not to support XP as we would get loads of calls about how to get the webcam working properly.

Thanks alot for the replies, now if anyone could point me to a "for dummies" guide for slipstreaming the SATA drivers into the XP disc I'll be even happier (I'm under the impression that even if you use the Compal drivers you'll need to slipstream a XP disc with SATA drivers)

See nLite for slipstreaming.

Just follow the procedure.

I think I now can use nLite properly, but there is one thing I still need, that's the sata controller drivers, I haven't found them, anyone mind lending me a hand?

Oh and, do the IFL90 drivers for the FL90 aswell or are there seperate? Because I haven't found any FL90 specific, only IFL90.

I think you have the Intel chipset, so go to Intel: SATA and Matrix Storage.

It's also a good idea to download and slipstream the major XP patches and updates. Then there's less updating to do later.
