Windows Media Center/Media Player 11 does not detect (previously deleted) music
So I finally a figured a way to hook my 360 to my laptop to stream music, etc. I had originally tried the media extender way (I have MCE 2005), but either my 360 would not recognize it after it setup, or it would freeze my 360.
Looking for a way around media extender, I installed Windows Media Player 11, and it was a breeze. It works flawlessly now, and there was no setup needed.
However, while playing with media center/media extender, I happenned to delete all my music. Fortunately all I had to do was restore everything from my recycle bin to get my music back.
This didn't affect Mediamonkey (my primary music player) at all. Still detected all the music and played it all fine. BUT Media Center and WMP11 will not detect the music files at all. Both are set to look at the folder my music has always been in (Mediamonkey looks at the same folder), but neither can find anything in it even though it's filled with all my music.
I've tried removing/readding the folder to each players' (Media Center, Media Player 11) watch list, but still neither can find it.
I think me deleting, than restoring those files somehow made them invisible to Windows Media programs, even though they are still there (again, Mediamonkey can detect and play them). I figure there must be a file or driver/setting or something that is making this mistake of thinking the files are deleted. I also assume Media Center and Media Player 11 use the same process to look for music, since they both can't find it.
I was hoping if anyone knew of a fix, or maybe a certain file to delete which would refresh the "memory" of me deleting those files, or if anyone knows how i can uninstall/reinstall Media Center (uninstalling/reinstalling Media Player 11 is easy enough) to refresh everything.
