Default Restore Outlook to a previous date/time?

Buddy of mine went into contacts and selected a large group of people and added a category designation to the group.
What he didnt know was that that would erase the category assignments he had for each individual contact, previously.

Is there any way to undo this above action and/or restore Outlook to a previous time/date?

Unless you have a backup of the PST file from making backups of your data, no. Outlook doesn't have an 'undo' mechanism like this.
    Desktop   13.3" Macbook Air
    W7 Ultimate, Core i7 2600k, Crucial M4 128GB SSD
    8GB RAM, GTX 680, 3x Dell U2412M Surround
       Snow Leopard, 1.86GHz, 2GB RAM
128GB SSD, iPod Touch, 32GB iPad

Greg-dont most people automatically have a PST file on their desktop that they can access?

My buddy is running Outlook on a work server; does that change anything?

Try to use outlook recovery tool corrupted .pst files.

Software displays the table of restored emails, folders, contacts, notes, journals, meetings.
