HD Video problem

whats happenin on the forum over last couple of days.
ive seen many double posts with no content.
now its happened to me. also jpeg picture upload is coming back with a this is not a valid file.
gremlins on the forum again

the story so far.
hard drive started misbehaving on my 4 year old m860tu so i got another replacement western digital scorpio black 320gb
reloaded all programs including cyberlink power director 10 video editor.

now when i drag video to the time line it says that the video is in ntsc tv format (picture attached) and i need pal format.
ive gone through the toshiba HD camileo s30 video camera and that is all set to pal. the strange thing is that power director is also set to pal so i have no idea what to do next.
when i do let power director convert the video the quality is crap and unusable compared to the mpeg4 video.
im using vlc media player so all the video clips are saved as VLC media file (.mp4) (.MP4)

any ideas what i might be doing wrong.

Your camera shoots in 1080p. Are your sure that your video editor can handle that?

yeah, i just had a problem getting a post to show. Hit submit again and it resulted in two blank posts. Sumpin' not working right on the board...

as far as i know i think it does.
ive solved the above problem by downloading quicktime player again and now i dont get the conflicting ntsc/pal problem.

ive just done 3 five minute test video's as im not sure now which rendering i should use.
H.264AVC 619mb
mpeg-4 411mb
mpeg2 300mb

i would like to use the best quality but the video is over 1 hour long so im guessing 264avc will be out of the question as it would be a massive file and need multiple dvd's to burn it.

You say you have 3 five minute vids? So how can the video be over one hour long? Is the hour long vid another one, separate from the test vids?
Well you know which one is the best. Do you have a bluray player? If so, you can burn short videos to a DVD. That's what I do as I shoot lots of short 1080 vids that fit on DVDs using the bluray structure and they look absolutely stunning on my big screen Panasonic.

Ordinary DVD's will hold more than one hour of mpeg2 but that is DVD structure not bluray.

Yesterday there was a "sticky" on the forums that had to do with this posting issue. I think that it said you should click on the Red Triangle, to report the double posting, in the thread that was "doubled".

The rendering setting you choose are the ones that are best suitable for your destination (you can choose more than one).

MPEG4 is typically the highest quality universal accepted format. But MPEG2 is probably even more so. At least in the case of youtube. Still, your destination may vary.

i dont have a bluray so no chance there.
the three five minute videos were only testers so i could burn with all 3 options. they were all the same video clip rendered with the above 3 options of h.264 avc, mpeg4 and mpeg2

i think there was about 45 short holiday clips in total but something strange happened. watching the video back on the cyberlink time line worked flawlessly but once they were all burnt to the disc every 5th clip froze just like a picture but the sound was still playing in the background.
could this be my cpu strugling? i could understand if all the video clips after a certain time froze due to computer strugle but strange how it was only every 5th clip.

This would be my first guess. MPEG2 is the preferred codec for DVD/Blu-ray authoring.
