    Default VPSKeys 4.3 for Windows 7 64-bit

Guys, I just bought an Acer Aspire S3 with Windows 7 Home Premium for my dad. I upgraded it to a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Then I tried to install VPSKeys 4.3 on it. This is a software that would allow my dad to type in the Vietnamese dialect. It works like normal when my dad types on Microsoft Word or on Google Chrome. But when he tries to change a Windows folder name or a mp3 file name, it's a no go. I think the reason is that it is installed on a 64-bit platform. Anyway I can modify it to work with 64-bit? Any advice guys?

I am not surprised that there has been no reply to your post. I used VPSKeys for many years then discovered that I had incompatibility issues when I installed the software into my new HP notebook in Mar 2010 (running Windows 7). Next, I discovered that McCafee and Google had announced that VPSKeys had been the victim of a trojan horse since at least Jan 2010. The attack reportedly came from the government of Viet Nam. When I looked up VPSKeys recently (to see whether it had any recent update) I found that there was not a single operating link for download in all the worldwide websites of the VPS (Vietnam Professional Society). I found some download links with the addresses from Viet Nam and I wouldn't touch them.

You may still have an operating link to download VPSKeys but the version you have was issued in March 2008 and there has been no updating for Windows 7.

Anyway, because of the history of trojan horse attack from a communist regime, and of the fact that VPS seems to have given up on upgrading its software, I would advise you to stop using VPSKeys and switch over to Unikey. Unikkey uses same VIQR encoding and key strokes for the Vietnamese diacritical (accent) marks so your father doesn't have to learn new typing skill. And Unikey is compatible with Windows Media Player so your father can modify the tags embedded in his mp3 files (I know because I have downloaded more than 3,000 mp3 files and have had to corrects many tags in Vietnamse).
