Re: NBR Folding@home Team
You lucky people in the US, the deals on dell laptops in Canada are never that great. Don't even have a proper oulet up here =(.
Also, with all our HPCS craziness I noticed we're almost at 80 million! Oh I remember when every million was a battle and we were around 15 mil.Dell Precision M6600

Re: NBR Folding@home Team
I can't help but feel that HPCS killed our group. Folding on my laptop just feels so pointless (pun intended) now.

Re: NBR Folding@home Team
Yea, I kinda agree. Sad. Although Some people didn't terminate their HPCS servers, and only requested termination. Now they are still getting points, but no charges. Although they can no longer log in, free points are still free points. I'm thinking about building a desktop. I got the M17x R4 cheap. Not sure how long I'll keep it, but when I sell it I may build a nice desktop with the money I get. Got a $2K+ config for $1200 so I may sell eventually for a little profit. Then I can add more points

Re: NBR Folding@home Team
So the 50% off promo for the public beta...1 CPU / 1GB RAM / 30GB of space. How many PPD would that generate?
According to my calculations, if the VM ran for 24 hours a day, 30 days a month, that would be around $15, right?
Erm, nevermind. Just looked at the setup process. Very unappealing.Last edited by TurbodTalon; 16th May 2012 at 10:11 PM.

Re: NBR Folding@home Team
Yeah, I'm still averaging about 100k ppd lol. Good stuff.. Am I the only one?
They let your order go through DR? That's awesome. I'd flip that thing ASAP. That'll cover your 7970M's at least.. Never know, you may decide you like the new machine. You could probably make some decent money off your R2.. Would you use a desktop for anything other than folding? Lol

Re: NBR Folding@home Team
With the HPCS no longer really a viable solution, I had also thought about getting a desktop folding full time. I fold on my M18x and and my wife's Dell something or other, and I feel terrible that the fans are screaming all of the time.
Folding on a desktop with a decent CPU and maybe a couple of lower-end Nvidia GPUs would be far cheaper and more advantageous in the long run as far as PPD VS hardware cost.Space Black M18xR1 | 7970M CrossFire | 2920XM Triple Pipe | 8GB RAM | 360GB SSD | 1TB HDD
