Re: PowerDVD 7.0 or WinDVD 7.0
I like Power DVD:
Advanced settings allow for Dynamic Range compression, Virtual speaker setting, hardware acceleration, Cyberlink Eagle vision (very sharp and vivid), snapshot capability and controls similar to a real DVD player.
At least the Interlink WinDVD, I don't like its features, personally.Unibody Macbook Pro 15.4", 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo, 1067FSB, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 320GB HDD, nVidia 9400M + 9600M GT, 512MB DDR3

I haven't used PowerDVD. I like WinDVD though mainly because I like the interface. It's pretty and the buttons are nice size.
You can do snapshots on WinDVD. You can also save a short clip of the movie. Never needed to use either feature... Or other features, anything other than watching a movie or using the InterActual player.
On the down side, it seems to take a long time to start (but maybe they're all like that?), and it associates itself with all file types (like AVI) without asking you. So you have to restore your associations manually.

Re: PowerDVD 7.0 or WinDVD 7.0
one thing i noticed, powerdvd 7 consumes more cpu resources than windvd 5 which shipped with my notebook. Since I only use it for basic dvd playback I stuck with the simple windvd 5.

Re: PowerDVD 7.0 or WinDVD 7.0
Ok so I paid 19 bucks to upgrade from PowerDVD 6.0 to 7.0 Deluxe and for some reason the play button on the front of my Dell E1405 stopped working. All the others worked, stop, fastfoward, and such. So after a few emails to Cyberlink and they not able to figure it out, I decided to return it and switch to Windvd 7.0 Plat. Works so much better and sooo many more features.
