    Default kmdfcustom.dll

My apologies if this is a bit banal for this forum ....

During windows updates after an XP repair install it appears that some files were written to a USB external drive. They are apparently harmless but I WANT TO GET RID OF THEM. I can't, they are always in use. If I plug the drive into anpother computer they become in use.

It's a known issue (like the two other time-consuming issues I ran into) but I just can't seem to find the proceess to stop or whatever.

    Can any one help?

    Service pack leftovers? http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...fm/750302.html
They're temporary files which end up on the drive with the most free space available. If you reboot you should be able to delete the folders.

if what atthegates suggested does not work, download this iso file:
    http://sourceforge.net/project/downl...7.iso&99208995
and burn it to a cd.
Reboot the computer and in the bios set to boot from cd/optical drive.
Gparted should load up. Once it has loaded you can format the external drive in it.
Then just reboot your computer and set the bios to boot from your hard drive.
Your external hard drive should be fully cleaned and work perfectly.

This may sound long to do , but it is incredibly fast and easy, as the file you have to download is less than 80mb.

    Hope this helps!
