    i forgot BSplayer is good too for videos. and it's free.

    Yeah, for DVD-Video files PowerDVD is the best. I don't know how well they play other types of video formats though, I never tried.

    VLC is the best video player there is.

    I used Gom Player and it was very good until i tried some HD files; the performance was terrible (for some).
    Browsing through the official forums noticed i was not the only one with that problem.
    All the other players (vlc, kmp) played those "heavy" media without any problems.
    But that was 3 4 versions ago....
    Now i use KMPlayer and i'm happy with it.

    PS: some mentioned BSPlayer, be careful, because the latest free versions have spyware.

    Media Center 12 is quite nice if you can stand using something that works alot like WMP.

    I use KMPlayer, aka Korea Media Player

    I like it very much. It plays alot of formats I think, at least everything I need it to play.

    I like VLC and Gom player.

    VLC is still the top pick though, its now become the second program I install on all of my new computers, after Firefox.
