Default How to delete hidden partition on Thinkpad.

I would like to delete the "hidden" recovery partition on my thinkpad, I would install a fresh copy of XP or maybe Vista. I just want to delete the recovery partition to fully benefit from the hd capacity.

Edit: Sorry mods, wrong section. Kindly move it.

nothing easier than this, although i know only for winxp, you just have to boot from your winxp install cd, in the setup youll be able to delete and create partitions as you like.

i did the same with my R60 9461-DXG and can only recommend it. my system now runs much smoother and faster as out of stock, as it is delivered full of stuff taking system ressources away and i really dont need. just dont forget to first download all the drivers you need from lenovo.com

You can use any partition manager. You can do the deletion from either XP or Live Linux distro (if your system stopped booting after you did this, boot the Windows XP CD and go to the recovery console, type "fixmbr")

I once installed Vista and chose "one partition". It's still there though. Can anyone recommend a good free partition software?

I use gdisk.exe, but you have to have a copy of Symantec Ghost. Delpart.exe is free.

OK, let me rephrase the question. What is a good, free, easy partition managing software?

Delpart.exe is a free dos based utility and easy. Just create a bootable CD with that exe on there.

Actually on the ThinkPad, there is an uninstall utility you can use inside Windows to delete that recovery partition.
