Cheap basic laptop recommendations
Hey all,
my mum is looking to buy a laptop from London when she goes over next week
could you recommend me a laptop in the £300-500 ($500-$800)(stretched to £600 ($1000) if really really worth it).. she doenst need anything special, just for word processing and e-mails, so a very basic sturdy laptop would be fine.. 14, 15" would probably be the cheapest and best value for money I guess
just want the best notebook at that price range if possible - no vid card needed obviously..Last edited by ndroo; 19th January 2007 at 02:24 PM.

The Dell e1405 is a good option, it might be called the 640m there.

Is she looking to buy it in person? If so, she might want to look into PC world. It's a computer superstore (kinda like bestbuy without the household items)
From their website here you can see the options they offer. They might not be the BEST laptops in the world, but they're cheap for what you get.
Personally I wouldn't recommend an Advent laptop. I got one 5 years ago and had constant problems with it.

You could look at an Acer TravelMate or Aspire as well, but I would go with the Compaq V3000 or HP dv2000 as a first choice - great quality for the money.
