Default Which will be the best purchase?

Ok, I am in a little bit of a kink. I am in the middle of trying to make up my mind on purchasing a lap-top. Something that i can take to the rigs with me to play games on(most likely Strategy, Rome total war, warhammer...the older ones) and possibly some FPS, not really the newer ones, but mainly the older ones(ones that i haven't finished yet) Anyways I have narrowed it down to purchasing one of the following 2. My funds are limited at the moment, so that is the other reason and it will be purchased at FS, as i have an account there. Ok, so here are the laptops.

    #1: Averatec 6130HS
    Pentium 4 HT 3.0Ghz
    512 DDR Ram
    60Gb HD
    (+/-)DVD burner
    64 Ati Radeon 9600
    15.4" screen
    $1899.95

    #2: Compaq R3240 A-64
    AMD 64 3200+
    512 DDR Ram
    60gb HD
    (+) DVD burner
    64Mb Geforce 440 go
    15.4" Screen
    $1799.95

I value everyones opinions and look forward to hearing from everyone. Btw, if you have any other laptop options that you may think would be better, please let me know. Thanks again for all your time!!!

For the same price as number 2 - you can get the HP Pavilion zv500z like I did with 1GB PC3200 RAM (Kingston from newegg), and a 60GB 7200 rpm drive (Hitachi 7k60 also from newegg) (about 370 for both - get the chepest HD and memory from HP and replace with the newegg stuff), but with an Athlon 3700+ processor. It's 15.4# ultrabrite same GPU with a 5-in-one reader. The only thing more than what I got would be the DVD burner. The HP has stereo speakers and dual wireless antennae. Anyways - that's what I did and paid about $1700. There was a coupon code that's still listed as possibly active at www.techbargains.com that cuts an additional 10% off the price.

Nope - American - but you should still consider replacing the hard drive and memory with your own for the Compaq - it's probably around the same price but better quality.

    Good luck
