Default Help picking better laptop - ASUS vs HP ENVY

I am looking to get a new laptop for around $600 dollars. I don't really want to go over $600. Currently I am debating between two models. I watch a lot of videos on my computer, listen to music, and just use it for a lot of general use. At most I would be playing The Sims on it. These laptops seem pretty similar but I was wondering which was better. Also if anyone knows of better laptops for the same price or lower but still a good laptop let me know. I will post the specs below.

    Asus 15.9"
    6gb memory
    750gb hard drive
    3rd Gen Intel® Core™ i5-3210M processor
    Asus 15.6" Laptop 6GB Memory 750GB Hard Drive Q500A-BHI5N01 - Best Buy

    HP Envy 15.9"
    6gb memory
    750gb hard drive
AMD Quad-Core A10-4600M Accelerated Processor with AMD Radeon HD 7660G discrete-class graphics
HP ENVY 15.6" Laptop 6GB Memory 750GB Hard Drive m6-1105dx - Best Buy

There isn't a whole lot between them performance wise, but I'd go with the Asus for two reasons, first the WiFi in the HP is most probably going to have a atheros WiFi card which have had problems in other brands of Laptops recently and secondly the Asus has WiDi which could be handy. But only if you're not going to be needing the discrete-class graphics, if you are go with the HP.

I am also looking at these two computer makers... I will be using it for the same basics as zanzabar including playing The Sims. I am currently using a fairly old Dell and can not play my game on it at all.

    HP-ENVY 14" Laptop - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive; Intel® 3rd Generation Core™ i7; with Wireless-B+G+N $629 (only at this price for Black Friday Sale)

    Asus - 15.6" Laptop - 6GB Memory - 750GB Hard Drive; Intel® 3rd Generation Core™ i5; with 1x1 wireless LAN (802.11b/g/n) $599

I do not know what "discrete-class graphics" are and maybe that means it is not important to my situation but I have been VERY annoyed to not be able to play the game I want and store the music I want on my only computer.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

"discrete-class graphics" means it has a graphics card, it is very important to you seeing you are " VERY annoyed to not be able to play the game" If you buy a laptop without a graphics card then get annoyed that you can't play, it's because you haven't informed yourself of just what you're buying.

You need a graphics card to play near all games well and the more powerful your graphics card the more graphically intensive games you can play.

In short if you buy a laptop without a graphics card and want to play, you just blundered badly. To me the two biggest mistakes people make when buying a laptop is buying one not good enough for your needs or buying one too good for your needs, either way you could be wasting your money.

sims can run at the HD4000. But i´d choose the AMD one. AMD makes nice budget processors great for gaming and casual use like word and internet. The AMD graphics on the A10 are really good and much better than the HD4000 in the i5. So my vote goes the HP.

Another laptop you might want to check out is an Asus with A8 processor, 7670m graphics and 6gb RAM. It is graphicly lots stronger than any of the laptops mentioned and should be around budget. It is available in Holland i dont know about the US

The Asus is running the UMA.not the HD4000, not that there's a lot of difference.
