M14x just isn't worth it, let alone all the import trouble. You might as well pick up a local comparable Lenovo or ASUS. If you want a gaming notebook, stick with the Sager. Alienware has a plus point that you can transfer the warranty over to Dell India.

I would have been way too happy if I could get a Sager... but I don't want to import because there isn't much tech support for Sager and there are the import duties too. So are ASUS or lenovo or s13p the best you could get in India?

look at the sony lounge for more info. They even have an overclocking guide in there.

I dont think you grasp the difference in performance of the 7970m against the 650m, its around 200%, yes its that high. The 650m is around 50% performance of last years top of the line gpus, but in this year you need 2 580m to reach the perfornance of a single 7970m, dont even count the overclock potential of the 680m, which puts it in another league, albeit with a extremely high price tag.

I dont like the asus N series, they are notorious for cooling issues (though it appears that this year they solved most of the issues), didnt you check the pacillion dv6t? The envy and the y580 do have the necessary cooling for those cards, all the notebooks that I posted here dont overheat or have throttling issues.

Not too sure on the Sony there. Sony cooling is usually horrible for gaming. They're meant to be conveniently portable PCs, not high performance gamer notebooks. Find out if the Samsung Series 7 gamer is available in your region. Otherwise, either Lenovo or ASUS should suffice. Find a configuration you like and we'll see if it's worthwhile. Importing a M14x from US would be a very unwise thing to do for sure. I think you're better off buying locally!

The 7970M is cool but the only notebooks I've found that offer it are the m17x? Even the m14x r2 doesn't have this option.

That's because it's a 100W card! Not every brand can deliver that performance and heat suppression in a tiny form factor. This is why I suggested the Sager. From the looks of it, you're willing to import a laptop, it's the best fit for your needs and performance demand, while also not too overpriced for your budget.

Consider what are your priorities at the moment:
A well configured laptop that you want.
    OR
A laptop you could settle with, but has good warranty in India.

Then it's between Sager and buying one locally. Alienware like I said should be an option you eliminate. The M17x isn't small if you even considered that. Have you considered a Dell XPS or a Gateway?

Importing a M17x made sense to me since a comparable GPU isn't available here, but the M14x is comparable to very many laptops around here.

You could always look at the offering from XoticPC / PNB and see if there's anything to your liking, within your budget, compare it to local variants of the product, say in case of ASUS, and decide which purchase option is better when weighing pros and cons like hassle, price. You could also look @ MSI. Either resellers would ship it here.

    Finally, please comment on ASUS N Series N56VZ - XS71 and ASUS G75VW - RS72?

As a former owner, I trust ASUS with cooling on laptops > 15.6". The important thing is the laptop you buy shouldn't have degraded performance in a year's time. Can you post the configuration of the two you're interested in, for a final comparison?

The Asus G series has excellent cooling and has quiet cooling as well, you'll hear the fans at full speed, but they are still quiet copared to other notebooks. The Asus N series had excellent cooling in the Core 2 Duo era, the N series that had the first gen core i7s was running hot, i hear it's better now though.
