Default A laptop for a university student

    Hey guys,

I'm really not familiar with the current laptop market, and, since I need one desperately (my old Inspiron 1520 is going to die any moment now), I am seeking help from you, more experienced users Briefly, I will be using the laptop for university work (MS Office only, I'm not in computer design or any other kind of computer heavy stuff), some gaming (not much of a gamer), but mostly for web surfing and video playback.

I'd see if there are any Clevo resellers that sell in your country. Some of the best bang-for-your-buck gaming laptops.

hmm HP dv6t quad has a quad I7, 650m, 1080p display. not sure what price point it comes at where you live.

sony vaio S15 has an IPS 1080p with a 640 LE which is good for moderate gaming.

the clevo are worth looking at but they tend to be big and heavy with poor battery performance, not sure if thats important to you.

Thanks for replies guys, appreciated) what about ASUS N56VZ? Seems reasonably priced for the components inside (5400rpm HDD is a bit of a downer though...)

hmm haven't seen one in person but if you read this review they say the CPU/GPU throttles back because they got too hot. personally i avoid laptops that cant handle their own heat output since that affects their longevity quite a bit.
