Acer AOD270 or AO725?
I only have $ for the price range of these 2 machines in this form factor category. if there are better alternatives for this price range, let me know and I will look into it.
so, so far I have tried AOD 270, and it's giving me headaches. problems with the touchpad, computer freeze, incompatibility with linux and just general dislike of the machine. windows 7 starter probably contributed to much of the freezing part, but linux drivers for cedar trail are still terrible
will AOD 270 be more bearable if it gets windows 7 home premium instead of 7 starter?
but how much better is AO 725? the processor is slower except when running videos, shorter battery life and heats up easier, but it does have USB 3.0, bigger screen, larger keyboard, upgradable ram to 4GB and 64 bit ready.
performance wise how much better is intel N2600 than AMD C60? N2600 can only take up to 2GB of ram while C60 can take 4GB, but N2600 benchmark score is better than C60, the question is how much better is that amount?
back to school sale is helping me pick up a cheap portable device, but I have to decide soon before this sales event is over.Last edited by MuffinMan123; 31st August 2012 at 09:33 AM.

bump this, seriously wondering about this. AO756 also just dropped into similar price range, but it has overheating problems I am concerned about.

Depends on what you're going to be doing with the netbook. The E series has superior graphics. The Atom CPU benches faster. I would prefer a last gen I3ULV to either. Is the AO756 available where you are? Amazon.com: Acer Aspire One AO756-2808 11.6-Inch Netbook (Ash Black): Computers & Accessories I think it's a better balance between CPU and GPU.
If it was me, I would repaste the CPU. Acer's factory thermal paste is usually poorly applied in these netbooks and some IC Diamond 7 can work wonders. There are, of course, possible warranty issues with disassembly but this is a routine step with Acers for me.Lenovo Thinkpad X301 | 13.3" (1440 x 900) | SU9400 @ 1.4 ghz | GMA 4500MHD | 6GB DDR3 | 128GB SSD | 3.3 lbs | (6+3 Cells) | W7 Pro
