laptop for audio use and casual use
1) What is your budget?
~£350
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
Any size is cool
3) Where will you buying this notebook? You can select the flag of your country as an indicator.
UK
4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
Don't care
5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
Yes
6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
Browsing, video playback, multitrack audio editing (drum editing on the go etc) so it must be able to handle a daw well (Cubase, Protools, Reaper, etc)
7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
Both
8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games?
Depends on what notebook I get, I may or may not play games on it
9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Not very important but something that lasts quite long is a plus obviously
10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
Online is OK
11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista or Windows 7), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
Windows 7
Screen Specifics
12) From the choices below, what screen resolution(s) would you prefer? Keep in mind screen size in conjunction with resolution will play a large role in overall viewing comfort level. Everyone is different. Some like really small text, while others like their text big and easy to read. Click here for Screen resolution information.
13) Do you want a Glossy/reflective screen or a Matte/non-glossy screen?
Matte would be nice but doesn't make a difference to me, not a deal breaker at all
Build Quality and Design
14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
No
15) When are you buying this laptop?
September / October
16) How long do you want this laptop to last?
Couple of years
Notebook Components
17) How much hard drive space do you need; 80GB to 640GB? Do you want a SSD drive?
160GB is an absolute minimum and would only consider if the rest of the specs made it worth it
18) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD Burner, Blu-ray Reader or Blu-Ray Burner?
No
So, basically I'm looking for a notebook, and according to my budget, I guess I'm kind of down to the netbooks / small screened notebooks.
I own a HP Mini 311 right now and I'm sick of it as it's the slowest computer I've ever owned. My main thing for me is that it playsback HD movies quite well and handles multitrack editing as well.
I don't mind if I get something second hand or not. I'm basically completely out of the loop as to notebooks these days.
Cheers in advance!

Re: laptop for audio use and casual use
I don't care much about the speakers, I'd always be using an interface with cand, this is mostly for drum editing on the go.
If I can get one with discrete gfx that would be awesome even if it's a used one, as long it hovers that price, maximum being around £400
