Re: Laptop for Gaming/School
You can never have enough power. As long as the $100 doesn't send you over budget, get it! Otherwise, you'll just wish you would have.

Re: Laptop for Gaming/School
Back with another question. Got a friend that has fallen on hard times and he's selling Newegg.com - MSI GT Series GT70 0ND-202US Notebook Intel Core i7 3610QM(2.30GHz) 17.3" 12GB Memory DDR3 1600 750GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M for 1350. Barely used. Would that be too much to carry around to class or would it be a good enough deal to deal with the increased size...?

Re: Laptop for Gaming/School
Only if your last computer was a Macbook. For someone like me that grew up carrying 5 periods of books from school home everyday, its not even a thought. For this generation anything heavier than a cell phone is too heavy.
From the Newegg price its no bargain. Buy only if he's a friend and you want to help him out. As a comparison, my HDX was a display model at the same original price which I got for $1000.That would depend on the class. If it's a lecture hall and it's just for taking notes then yes, it would be cumbersome. However, if it's computer centered class, then he'd likely be right at home and thankful for ever inch of space. Most computer classes have tables just for that purpose. There was also a theater/lecture classroom with continuous desks with computer hookup attached.Holder of the Standard Repository of All Knowledge and Information

Re: Laptop for Gaming/School
So my bro sold his GT70 to another one of our friends, but I managed to check it out before he picked it up. I've decided to order the GT70 from Newegg. It's over my budget, but thanks to my Newegg Preferred Account that I never use, I decided I'd go ahead. I'm also getting the Xbox 360, which I'll wind up selling, and I'll get the 100.00 rebate, which will bring me back into my initial budget. Also will be interest free for 12 months, so I can spread it out over a few paychecks. (I dont like to leave stuff on credit very long). It's a really nice machine and feels solid and looks great in person. Pictures I've seen online really do not do it that much justice. I love the feel and look of the keyboard. The sound really surprised me. I've never heard a laptop sound so clear... I really appreciate all of the suggestions you guys gave me.

Excellent. Glad to hear you found something you like. It looks like a great laptop and is well equipped.
It might also interest you to know that MSI has a high customer satisfaction rating. Sorry, I can't remember the periodical so I can't post a link that. I read so many and can't remember them all.Holder of the Standard Repository of All Knowledge and Information
