The GPU is replaceable, yes.
Don't know of any issues.
A few gens back they had some bad screen bezels that would crack. But I haven't heard of that issue lately.Clevo P150HM / Sager NP8150: i7-2630QM OEM (would trade for Q154

Re: NP9150 (7970M ) or M18x R2 (7970M CF) or GT60 (GTX 680M)
Hello
i have read something about Clevo P370EM , does any body know when P370EM (Sager model ) will arrives ?
i want that with dual 7970m gpu and almost normal spec (3610qm , 8GB DDR3 1600 (2 x 4 GB) 500GB or 750GB 7200RPM 16MB Buffer) , that's about 3.9 kg and also with matte display support , also almost 89Wh battery.

Some people in the MSI forum say the GT60 has keyboard issues.

Re: NP9150 (7970M ) or M18x R2 (7970M CF) or GT60 (GTX 680M)
I'd go with the Clevo or the MSI.
The Alienware is an 18" and weighs in at 12lbs. The other two are much more mobile IMHO.
It's not really designed to compete with the other two 15" laptops.
This isn't to say its a bad choice, but that it really is in a different league and designed for an SLI/x-fire config which probably exceeds your budget.
That and if you have to ask about needing an sli/x-fire laptop, you don't. :-)
-The difference in weight between the Clevo 6.8lbs or 7.7lbs isn't to big of a hairy deal, so I wouldn't really worry too much about it.
-The clevo can fit either a 7970m or 680m The 680m is the top performing mobile gpu by a nose-hair at stock clocks and around 18% when both are overclocked to extremes. I'd say the 7970m wins for price/performance and will help you fit in better accessories like SSD and a better screen. The 680m wins if you are the extreme overclocker type and want the absolute fastest period.
-The MSI has better speakers... but you pay for it with slightly more weight and may not need the speakers if you always use headphones.
The MSI's built-in speakers are good enough to use for a small party's music system, and that's saying something for laptop speakers.
Only you know if this will be worth it to you.
-The MSI has an extra hard drive bay. You may or may not have a use for this.
-The MSI does have reported keyboard issues, but those are apparently defects replaced under warranty.
(all other issues seem to be personal taste, touch)
-Both np9150 and GT60 are upgradeable.
If I were buying right this minute with your budget, I'd take a look at the loaded-up prices of MSI and Clevo 15" from resellers and find the best deal for your budget. I have to say a Clevo 15" with a 7970m would likely get in a nice-sized SSD boot disk + screen upgrade for under the cost of the MSI. I'd be tempted with the MSI's extra hard drive bay, but the price would have to be right. (as it would be tipping your top budget with the options I would want)ASUS G50VT (Since 11/2/2008)
C2D 8400 2.26GHz, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, 9800m GS 512MB, 15" 1366x768, Win 7 64-bit Ultimate

The MSI is technically upgradable, but doing so would void the warranty.
