Laptop comparison. Help!
Hello everyone,
I'm planning on buying a new laptop and I need help. I'm basically just going to be gaming on it, but I am confined to a budget. So I found these two, and was just wondering which would perform better.
I'm only interested in gaming , tbh. I won't care much about anything else.
Lenovo IdeaPad Y570
i7-2670M, 2.2GH, 6MB Smart Cache
8GB DDR3
nVIDIA GeForce 555M with 2GB DDR5 dedicated
HP Pavilion DV6-6c45
i5-2450M, 2.5GH, 3MB L3 Cache
4GB DDR3
ATI Radeon HD 7690M XT (Dedicated 2GB DDR5)
I know that the radeon GFX performs better than the 555m but when the 555m is complemented with a faster processor and more ram is that still the case?
If you guys need any more information, let me know!
Thanks in advance.

Re: Laptop comparison. Help!
get the best graphics because that's the only thing you can't upgrade.
you are also comparing an old generation nvidia 5xx (current is 6xx) with new generation AMD 7xxx.
consider the ideapad y580 with a 660M GTX.MSI GUS II, EXTERNAL THUNDERBOLT GPU.

Re: Laptop comparison. Help!
There is only a very minor difference in power between the two GPUs, so I would try to find out which one overclocks better (I've heard that the 555m is quite good in this regard).
Then I would have a look at some reviews and see which one has the better screen as that will be very important while gaming (no matter how well the game runs if the screen is ugly).
If after these you can't name a 'winner' I would choose the Y570 because of the other specs being singificantly better and the GPU difference being very minor.
(As __-_-_-__ said, obviously if you have money for a Y580 go with that as it's much more powerful than the 2 laptops you listed, but I would believe you listed them because they are the ones below your budget cap.
Also I supposed that both machines cost the same.)

Re: Laptop comparison. Help!
(This post assumes you live in the USA)
The Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 is not a particularly good laptop, because it comes with a 15.6" 1366x768 display. 1366x768 resolution in a 15.6" display makes things onscreen large, and 15.6" displays that have 1366x768 resolution tend to have very poor image quality due to low contrast.
The HP DV6-6C45 model also comes with a 15.6" 1366x768 display, but there are are a number of models of the DV6-6xxx series that come with a 15.6" 1920x1080 display.
Consider instead the HP DV6-6C53NR (i5-2450M, Radeon 7690M XT, 15.6" 1920x1080 matte display)
- Remember to go into the BIOS and change the switchable graphics setting from DYNAMIC to FIXED. DYNAMIC (automatic switching mode) does not work properly for certain games. FIXED (manual switching mode) works much better, and in some ways is more reliable than NVIDIA Optimus' automatic switching.Dell Precision M4400 - QX9200 | 15.4" 1920x1200 RGBLED | Quadro 770M | 4GB | 500GB | 7 Pro
