Mac User needs a Windows Computer
I am a mac powerbook user. Due to the work I am doing I really need to get a windows laptop. After looking for several weeks I am getting really frustrated.
I can't seem to find one as good as the macbook pro:
> Displays are generally not as good. Poor contrast, poor viewing angles, poor colors.
> Trackpads are just awful compared to the mac. Tried dozens at BestBuy almost none of them can do two finger scroll properly.
So I am looking for a 14-15" laptop with a really good display, a trackpad that really works and 6+ hours of battery life. I want a ivy-bridge processor, wake within a few seconds, and being thin and sexy is a plus.

Any reason why you're not just using Bootcamp or Parallels on a newer Mac?
► Current Laptop
14" Samsung Series 7 NP700Z3C-S02US
► Previous Computers
Sony Vaio FW, Dell Latitude D420, Dell Inspiron 6000, Commodore 64, TRS-80, TI-30 Calculator

Re: Mac User needs a Windows Computer
> You want to look for laptops with 1080p resolution, and 95% color gamut if possible (for reference, el-cheapo laptops have ~40%, MBP 15" has ~65-75%). Possible laptops include Lenovo Thinkpad T530 or W530, some Sager models, and inexpensive IPS models (like the Thinkpad X230).
> Newer HP, Lenovo, and other laptops have MacBook-like trackpads. One example of a great trackpad is on the Ideapad U310. Another option would be a trackpoint (found on business laptops: Thinkapds, Dell Latitude, HP Elitebook). I find them to be more functional than trackpads (all of them).
At any rate, it'd be helpful if you filled out the sticky on this subforum so we'd know your budget, wants/needs, etc.
I don't think it'd be cost effective to buy a Mac and then a license of Windows on top of that. Not to mention the reduced battery life and potential heat issues.

I would not rule out the Sony S series either.
The 15" models are light, thin and look very similar to the Macbook Pro. You can get them in black and silver.
Plus you can get a docking port (port replicator) For them if you need
Sony S Series
