Ca Sager NP9130 vs Lenovo Y580

    Hello everyone,

I'm considering buying a new notebook and I can't decide between these two options. I'm going to use this laptop for gaming, as I travel too often to even bother with a desktop computer, and normal computer stuff (i.e. internet, word, excel).

First is the Sager NP9130. The NP9150 is definitely too expensive, so I'm limited to this model with either the 660m or the 670m. On the other hand is the Lenovo y580 20993BU, on sale at the moment. It only has the 660m and my main worry is that, since Lenovo kind of lied about the 640m in their Y480 model and put the 640m LE instead, they might have put an underclocked card in their Y580 model...

The Lenovo model seems to be better or equivalent in every way (apart from the glossy screen), but I can't find a decent review of it at the moment. I have read the owner thread on the Lenovo subforum and it seems fairly positive, but I still can't decide... I'm mainly looking for one thing in particular that would convince me that one model would be a better choice. Better cooling maybe ? A more sturdy build ? I don't know, really...

Thank you for your help everyone.

I've heard that the IdeaPads are of poor build, and feel very cheap.

On the flip-side, I've heard that the high-end Clevos are top-notch in quality and durability.

And Clevos are definitely well-known for two things - customizability (you can swap parts out easily later for upgrades) and cooling.

Check the owner's lounge at Lenovo thread. Many users already gave feedback regarding Y580.

Thats kind of a misconception with some people. The durable business line Thinkpads are such tanks that when people go over to their other lines they regard them as cheaper. So those comments are taken out of context with many who do research. But they are about the same or better than all the other brands.(I hear more complaints of Hp's quality than Lenovo for instance) The Y580 has gotten almost all good comments in the owners lounge when it concerns build quality. Great keyboard and a very sturdy feeling laptop is what i am constantly hearing over there. Also it has a great screen.

Now if you plan on traveling a lot Zweiko the Y580 may not be for you. Though I like glossy screens they are not for outdoor use. If you think you will be in natural light much of the time you may want to consider one with a matte screen.

I have read the thread already and the feedbacks are fairly positive. The only thing that worries me is that some test with the 660m give lower results than expected, which leads me to think that Lenovo might have done something to it...

While I do travel a lot, it's more for study/work related reasons, so I usually have an apartment/hotel room where I can use my notebook.
