Au New xps 14 or e5430

Im trying to decide between these two dell laptops.

Both are very similar except the xps is around $30-$70 cheaper once specified similar to the latitude and website says the xps slightly heavier. I have added 3 year warranty to the xps to make them equal. The only differences are below

    XPS – i5-3317u
    - 900p screen (im guessing glossy)
    - geforce gt630m
    - 8cell (69whr)
    - 8gb 1333mhz
    - wireless advanced n – 6235
    - 500gb 5400rpm with 32GB msata

    Latitude – i5 – 3320m
    -1600x900 (anti glare)
    - HD4000
    - 6cell (60whr) (can add 9 cell (87whr) for $50)
    - 8gb 1600mhz
    - wireless ultimate n – 6300
    - 500gb 7200rpm

I am mostly using it for uni and will need to run Autocad. So I am not sure if the dedicated graphics would provide a big advantage? But the latitude seems to have a better processor and ram aswell as better wireless card.

Is the cpu in the e5430 much of an upgrade from the xps?

If your going to do any gaming at all on it even very lightly you'de be better off with the XPS the performance difference between the processors is going to be negligible and the better graphics card on the XPS will make up the difference and then some I've never used Autocad so I couldn't tell you if the if it has GPU acceleration or uses the GPU at all.

Also the 32gb cache on the XPS is a good addition.

I say if you don't plan to game on this laptop, go for the Latitude. More bang for the bucks! And get that 9 cell battery for 50$, so worth it!

After seeing the XPS 14, I think I would pick it over the Latitude. The XPS looks really solid, with a great display and keyboard. The hybrid SSD and conventional drive is a real plus as well.

Thanks, I ended up going for the xps. I never know when i might need the little extra GPU performance over the next 3 years.
