I think I will go with the 9170 with the specs you suggested. It is honestly my favorite, just wanted to give the others a fair chance so I knew I was getting the best value for my money.

Yeah, I heard a lot of good things about Sager/Clevo. So I think that will be my decision. Does anyone know how long the Sager perks will last on xotic? Or are they permanent things? The 3% rebate and $50 off I mean.

These 2 discounts will probably last quite a while. But you can never be 100% sure about these things. As for now the 7970m is back ordered in most places. It should take around 1-2 weeks to clear up all the pending orders and start fresh. So order one as soon as they are available.

You could try larry at lpc-digital.com and ask about max discount. I'm going to order my sager9170 from him because of discounts and probably will be less packed with orders like xotic will be

Thanks I will look into that too. Just want to get the best price and quality for my money. I have a decent knowledge of gaming desktops but not much on laptops. So any advice anyone can offer would be great.

So how long do you think a 7970m will be a viable option for gaming?

It should last you around 2 solid years. But even after that you will be able to play the latest games in high settings probably. This much is sure that it is going to last for quite a while compared to its predecessors.

Ok good a 2-3 year minimum should be fine this will be my first gaming laptop and major purchase so I just want to get all my facts straight before I put that kind of money out. Are there any legit complaints about Sager products? Or any kinks people just don't like about them? I can't seem to find any problems from my research.

Should I spend the extra $75 to have then OC my PC? I don't know how easy it would be to do it myself so would it be worth it?

I personally would not spend extra bucks to have OC done. If you have extra money spend it on thermal compound and/or getting a better wireless card. And with respect to 9170EM complaints; several individuals have expressed issues with laptop speakers and keyboard quality. It's not something that has resulted in people returning their laptops but you should know not everything is hunky dory with Sager laptops.
