If you'd reconsider refurbished there are very good deals to be had from Dell that are usually backed up by a 3 year warranty plan.

I have an Alienware M14x in superb condition currently available for sale with 2 years 6 months warranty remaining and is well under £1000.
I had initially planned on sending you this offer via PM (Private message) but you have yet to post enough in order for this option to be used.

    Default £1000 budget for laptop......

Thanks for the offers, however I'm really looking at getting a brand new laptop from a retail site. Thanks again

I'd also consider any Apple Macs, although obviously with my budget I'd be looking at the lower end of the scale.

Just seen the Acer V3 on Scan for £799 (pre-order):

    Acer Aspire V3-571G-73618G50Makk i7 15.6" Notebook - NX.RZNEK.001 - Scan.co.uk

Specs look good but no idea how good a laptop it will prove to be. It so nearly meets all of my requirements, just lacks the 650M and blu-ray drive (I would happily pay £1k if they were included).

That looks pretty good, however I'm still waiting to see what the price will be of the new Dell XPS 15". If that Acer had a 650M I would of probably of gone for it.

Same here, I've also read varying spec for the screen so will wait until it's released to see if it actually has a 1080p. Most Acers come with much lower res screens, so I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be the same.

Does anyone have any other recommendations? I would prefer something that is a bit lighter than the "Y580" like the "HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 Quad Edition" but that hasn't been released in the UK.
