Ivy Bridge + dual x16 Gen3 PCIE MXM slots?
Trying to find a real portable GPU powerhouse. Does one exist that has dual Gen3 x16 MXM slots?
Ideal selection criteria:
17" or larger, 1920x1200 or higher
Has to be Ivy Bridge (for Gen3 PCIE) but don't care about which one
Dual PCIE Gen3 MXM slots which are x16 electrical
At least 2 SATA-III drive slots, 3 would be better (3 SSD RAID0?)
No where near desktop replacement, but OK for portable work.
I'd like to buy a barebones with just the CPU & wireless. I'll put in my own SSDs, memory, and MXMs (I have a very large selection).

Alienware M18x meets all your requirements, you can even RAID0 three SSDs on it. On the other side, it is very expensive and heavy (about as heavy as your current M17x though), but these should be expected given the specifications.
M17x R3 - i7-2820QM; 16GB RAM; GTX 580M; 1080p@60Hz; 256GB SSD; 750GB@7200RPM; Blu-Ray; Windows 7
N5110 - i3-2310M; 2GB RAM; GT 525M; 1366*768@60Hz; 320GB@5400RPM; DVD+/-RW; Windows 7

Re: Ivy Bridge + dual x16 Gen3 PCIE MXM slots?
I have not been able to confirm that both MXM slots are PCIE Gen3 and x16 electrically (16GB/sec bidirectional peak theoretical). Since GPU-Z doesn't support the 7970 yet, all the screen shots I've seen say it's operating at x8 gen 1.1. Nor can I find a reivew that says x16 Gen3. It doesn't help that whenever I attempt to search NotebookReview for PCIE x16 it returns:
"Could not find phrase 'invalid_search_query"
