Default What notebook / netbook should I buy?

    Hi everyone,

I'm not too sure what notebook to get myself. I spend a lot of time travelling to and from campus (I'm a postgrad student) and like to take my laptop with me. At the moment I find this tedious with my current notebook as it is heavy and not very discreet - crime is rife where I study and I don't like it being very obvious that I have a laptop in my bag.

So I would imagine that a netbook would be better suited to my needs. But can you game on many netbooks? Games I play most often (on my notebook) are Oblivion, Warcraft 3 and Age of Empires 2 (random selection I know!). Other games I generally play on my Xbox but it's not portable.

So what should I get? Most importantly, what strikes a balance between portability and gameability?

Thanks in advance for your help

Well, considering your needs, I don't suggest that you buy a 10.1" netbook as it has a smaller sized keyboard and is difficult to use. Instead, I suggest getting something with a little more power, and a bigger screen. I'm currently looking at the HP Dm1z for myself, and I suggest that you look at it too. It has an 11.6" screen with an AMD e-450, which will provide the same amount of computing power as the Intel Atom, but will provide GPU power equivalent to Intel HD 3000 graphics, which is surprisingly good, and will be able to handle Oblivion, Warcraft 3, and definitely AOE2 (2D graphics).
