The final decision has come down to the Sager NP9150 and the MSI GT60. The only down side to the GT60 is that the graphics card doesn't come as a AMD 7970m. The Sager holds the new 7970m but I'd have to wait till June 1st-14th for it to ship... Think it's worth the wait?

Definitely worth the wait! If for those few extra dollars, you want your laptop's lifetime and longevity in usability to last you another year or two...

If you plan to own your laptop for 2 or more years and upgrade the GPU to keep it current, you should know this:

    Spoiler :

Clevo builders have announced that Clevo will no longer be supporting newer GPUs for older (EOL) laptops.

This means that if you choose the 7970m, you will likely be stuck with it or have the choice to upgrade to the 685m or 7990m while the AMD 8000m and Nvidia 700m series will (likely) be incompatible.

MSI on the other hand have simply had the most documented cases of a laptop being upgraded or tested with a card that the laptop was not released with and did not officially support. Modern Clevos will refuse to function with basic, 100% standard low end MXM cards.

Of course, the jury is still out, and no one has tried to upgrade an older Clevo to 7970m or a 600m series card. Several MSIs function flawlessly with the 7970m and none have failed to support it.

Id really recommend the MSI if you want it to still be powerful down the line.

Next year, the 7970m should still be able to chew through all games. And the year after that. Three years down the line, you might have to switch to medium-high. But then in three years, would you really be upgrading the GPU and spending $600 instead of getting a new laptop? Think about it. You are looking at core 2 duo vs IVB here. And AMD 4000 series vs high end 7000. Think about 2009 and now. Stuff has changed a lot and there is no reason to believe it will stop. Would you really want to be stuck with a 3 year laptop and spend a ton of money upgrading the GPU or would you get a new one?

Agreed. Attempting to future-proof yourself with MORE expenses FOUR years down the line in a field such as rapidly evolving technology is just as ridiculous as it is retarded!

Lol, I'd like to hear that again from you in 4 years when your laptop is all you've got...

And 600$? Yeah right, the 7970m is the best GPU out right now and you can get it for less than that.

I'd like to see you giving MSI customers of today assurance that the latest GPU 4 years down the line is of the same form factor as their GPU today, fits in the same slot and is available as an upgrade for their current product, with the same confidence you show now!

You can argue all you want. The bottomline remains. There are VERY FEW people out there who have a laptop that is 4 years old and will prefer upgrading their GPU instead of purchasing a new laptop.

Thank you for all the input. I'm going for the Sager! Can't wait to see this beauty and it's professional sleek design. I'm also excited to see how well the build quality is too since a lot of people have complimented Sager for that.

Good luck. You get that 7970m and you should see a whole new world in games. I think - haven't got mine yet : P
