Gaming Ultrabook
Hi all , I'm looking for a thin and light gaming laptop , in other words , a 'gaming ultrabook' .
General Questions
1) What is your budget?
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
3) Where will you buying this notebook? You can select the flag of your country as an indicator.
Canada
4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like: No preference
b. Dislike: Apple (I hate OSX...)
5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
Yea
6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
Gaming , school work , browsing internet , streaming videos . (basic stuff)
7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
Ill take it around time to time .
8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games?
Mainly Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 , but a few others too .
9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Preferably 6h+ but 4h+ would be ok too .
10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
I normally look at reviews on them first so it doesnt matter .
11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista or Windows 7), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
Winodws 7 (windows 8 anyone ? d: )
Screen Specifics
12) From the choices below, what screen resolution(s) would you prefer? 1600x900 - 1920x1080
13) Do you want a Glossy/reflective screen or a Matte/non-glossy screen?
Doesn't matter
Build Quality and Design
14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
Fairly important
15) When are you buying this laptop?
I can wait a while
16) How long do you want this laptop to last?
for around 3-4years
Notebook Components
17) How much hard drive space do you need; 80GB to 640GB? Do you want a SSD drive?
minimum 500GB
18) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive?
It would be nice , but not necessary
As you can see my specifications are fairly specific . And please don't suggest the main possibilities (ie alienware m14x) . I have looked at MANY notebooks already . Some examples that may qualify for my specifications are : Alienware m14x , Sony Vaio 14P , Gigabyte u2442 .
I like the Alienware m14x cuz I currently own a m11x but I would like a bigger screen .
So far I am the only legit 'Gaming ultrabook' that exists is the Gigabyte u2442 , but there's barely any news on it ever since it got announced . THe black Sony Vaio 14P looks AMAZING but there's like no updates on it either . Im turing to the Alienware m14x but I'm wondering if there's anything else out there (or will be out there) .
Thanks

Re: Gaming Ultrabook
Uhh I said I wanted to upgrade to a 13"-14" .. not get another 11" lol .. I'm fully aware of the Sager/Clevo 11" powerhouse along with the Origin Eon 11" powerhouse .. both run Nvidia gt650m with 2gb of vram along with other good stuff .
Good ultraportable gaming netbooks tho .Last edited by linksta; 16th May 2012 at 09:27 AM.

Re: Gaming Ultrabook
Mr. MM stared a thread that's since been stickied for this:

Should be updated as laptops come online. FYI.

Re: Gaming Ultrabook
I am fully aware of his sticky .. it's a sticky , kinda hard for me to miss .
The difference is that his is '11-14 inch' .. and mine isn't . His has no resolution specifications , I'm picky about high PPI , his has a max weight , I don't care about weight , just size , and many other things .
