Sager vs MSI

Hey guys. I have been checking out laptops for college for a while now and
I recent stumbled upon the MSI ge60 an the Sager np6165. Both good laptops from what I've heard. My question is which one would be a better buy? Or if there would be a better buy with the same specs as those 2. Thanks!

What's superior about the build quality and cooling about the Sager vs MSI?

I'm also interested in this, deciding between the GE70 vs the Clevo W170. They're exactly the same specs wise, close enough price wise, but the GE70 is a bit thinner and lighter and comes with a matte screen rather than a glossy.

Wrong. MSI build quality is different, the cooling is really just as good.

Why do you keep saying the build quality is better without explaining why?

Some evidence shows that sager stock cooling is worse with 100w TDP cards such as the 580m and 6990m going near 100c. This was not an isolated issue, and Sager has claimed that those temps are safe.

You can look at the MSI gx660 and ms-16f2 upgraded to 6990m, the temps are well under control (under 90c).

And, upgrading brings me to another good point... Sager has officially announced that they will no longer be adding support for new GPUs in older laptops so you wont be able to upgrade them. MSIs on the other hand have already been upgraded to all sorts of cards beyond their specification without a hitch.

Lastly... Sager laptops have BAD audio quality, both in speakers and sound card compared to MSI. MSIs have AMAZING speakers with a subwoofer if you look at the reviews.

Go with the MSI.

The MSI has only 1 fan for both the GPU and the CPU. Of course the pipes are separate but still 1 fan is 1 FAN.

The Sager/Clevo on the other hand have 2 fans i.e 1 for the GPU and 1 for the CPU. Hence the better cooling solutions.

The Sager/Clevo are very sturdy laptops. They are subtle and simple looking laptops compared to the MSI which is generally flashy.

From a spec point of view the Sager/Clevo are probably the best choice as they offer the best performance to price ratio. The MSI are a bit expensive compared to the Sager. But of course the MSI and considerably a better known brand to the normal customer.

Hence it is totally up to you. The Sager/Clevo are very reputable. I just like Prasad would recommend you the Sager/Clevo over the MSI. But of course if you like the features in the MSI or the flashy looks of it then you can get a MSI by all means. Its any day cheaper than an Alienware.

Very strong statement, but with no backing greater than mine. I'd really like to see this "evidence". Also, could you provide a link to this "official announcement" ? The speakers however is a good point..

The new generation of Sager laptops have Onkyo speakers which if not as good as the MSI Dynaudio but certainly better than the older ones. And most of the people use earphones in a laptop unless you are maybe watching a movie or something. I am sure the speakers in the new Sagers is pretty decent for a laptop.

The discussion was about the W150 vs the GE60 though, and the W150 has just 1 fan for both the GPU and CPU, same as the GE60.

Also, the speakers in the W150 aren't the Onkyo that the P150 sports I don't believe.
