Nope, 630M is definitely faster. Also, you're thinking 28nm, not 22nm, and the 630M also comes in a 28nm variant. That only improves power efficiency, though, not performance.

The Asus UX32VD comes with 28nm (sorry about that) and 715 MHZ

The regular 630 comes in 40nm and 672 MHz (I haven't seeing any of the new ones at 20nm),

There's more to a GPU than its core clock speed. 630M has a faster shader clock, always has a 128-bit memory bus (whereas some 620M models have a 64-bit memory bus), and there are some 630M variants that have 144 shaders (as opposed to 96 for the 620M and some 630M variants).

If you don't believe me, check Notebookcheck.com. 630M is definitely superior.

Lenovo seems to release an updated version of the Y480 soon:

It's a Thai site, but google translator is our friend, plus one can find some videos on youtube, too.
GT 650m, IB i7 quad core, mSata socket... Hmm ))

I'm not super convinced they'll actually release it in the US... I've chatted with sales people on the lenovo site, who admittedly might not be the most informed, but more often then not they say there's no release date or real plans for it, or that the product page that lists the Y480 with 650M or 660M is just a horrible typo. I'm debating between waiting a month or so to see if Lenovo steps up and just buying the HP dv4t. I hope lenovo gets their game together, because if it actually comes out it seems like the Y480 could definitely give the dv4t a run for its money in terms of performance, and it wouldn't be an HP =).

I think its pretty save to assume that the laptop is real and not just a typo. Benchmark comparisons are showing a pretty clear sign.

Anyone familiar with thai imports ?

Definitely real, just only real in other countries, for now.

I think China has the same thing, a y480 with a the 650M... I'm also curious about imports.

my perfect notebook would be 14in, 1080p ips, gt 640m ddr5, (any old i5/i7 ivy bridge cpu), ~1in thick, unibody/near unibody aluminum/carbon fiber frame, ~ 4lbs

oh and a backlit keyboard. is that asking for too much???
    Previous Laptop: Toshiba Satallite A215 | 15" 1280x800 | Athlon 64 x2 TK - 53 | 2 gb ram | Radeon x1200 | 1 minute battery life -_- <- crappy aint it?
Crappy Desktop: HP Pavillion | Phenom x4 9500 | 6 gb ram | Radeon HD 6770 <- not much better
    Current Laptop: HP Envy 15t-3200|i7-3720QM 2.6GHz 6MB L3 Cache (Turbo Boost to 3.6GHz)|8GB 1600 MHz RAM|750GB 7200RPM Hybrid HDD|1GB AMD 7750m|1920x1080 Radiance IPS Screen
