Is it going to be a tremendous difference in terms of graphics performance?

I was considering buying a thinner/lighter 14" like the Lenovo s430 or the rumored Dell XPS 14 if they come with a i7 quad core, since, I guess, in other areas (programming softwares, MATLAB, etc) you wouldn't notice any remarkable difference.
given that the performance of kepler vs fermi in relation to gpgpu is abysmal to say the least, and that the gt 630m from the s430 is fermi, it should be pretty close or better.

That's what I thought, that for a mere 10% of CAD usage (worst case scenario) I'd go with a smaller, lighter S430, which also features thunderbolt, rather than opting for the heavier W530.

Anyway I still hope to see a 6** Kepler version on the S430.

I just want to see the U2442N released in the States or at least South Korea... Or not to expensively online.

Just read: "Mitte Juni soll es die Serie U2442 in den Handel schaffen, nach Europa im Juli."

Translated: A u2442 release in europe as early as july!

"Optional soll es auch noch Modelle mit GT 650M geben, diese aber nicht für Europa."

There might be even an option for the 650M, but it won't be released in europe.
The 2442 will feature a dual vent system.
The screen in the U2442C and the U2240 will be 1366, but in the higher versions(N/V) 1600x900 non glare.
2442 will have a price of 1.000 to 1.300 USD.
    Great news

    that Sony S13 looks promising

Kepler 640 LE and 900p screen

S15 might not be a bad option either since it has a IPS 1080p and pretty thin/light specs

think I will wait for reviews though... not sure how laptops that thin and light can handle heat from stressed gpu/CPU
    Sony S15
    2.5 GHz i5-3210M
    Samsung 830 128GB SSD
    Nvidia 640m LE
    8GB of Ram

i got my sony s13! i didn't buy the premium version though, means that the resolution still 1366. i bought mine at s$1499, the premium sold at s$1999, difference are i5 vs i7, 1366 vs 1600, gpu ram 1g vs 2g. performance satisfying, played d3 for about 30 mins, the laptop was still cool. so far i'm happy with it, but if there's something to be noted is the keyboard got a little flex on the left hand side, not much and disturbing though.

I don't think the u2442 line is going to carry Thunderbolt.

    U2442V

    U2442N
