That's what Lenovo said about the 650M Y480. And Gigabyte has quite the history of not making them available stateside.

The US distributer has already been confirmed by gigabyte. I think the company knows they have a winner here and will not let distribution harm its chance to compete in a market that they will likely dominate. From the pictures the unit looks great, but I still can't tell if the deck surrounding the keyboard is plastic or metal. The display looks nice and I am glad to hear is it an LG. Horizontal viewing angles are not bad, vertical ones look about average, and nothing to write home about. Still, for a $1,200 unit with the kind of specs this one has, it looks fine.

From what I could decipher from the google translation, the palm rest gets a bit warm. They seem to like everything else about it. No word on the keyboard flex. On the positive side, no mention of a loose hinge. It looks like this model does not have the thunderbolt port that was promised from the advertisements but that might come in other models. I suspect that Gigabyte will distribute the standard U2442N first, before releasing other models.

In all, if I was looking for an ultrabook with a dedicated GPU, I would probably not buy anything until I saw a couple of real reviews by owners and if they are good, I would probably not get anything else. If you have no need for a dedicated GPU, I think there are some better options, even if you can use an EGPU, I would look for a better display and a thunderbolt port.

    Thanks for the link.

Edit: Here's another. http://news.idg.no/cw/art.cfm?id=470...5D0F9217CC11C3 Article says Thunderbolt port will still be an option, so I would expect that some models will have it.

I've got a YouTube account, got any questions/comments/messages in mind?

    For example:

    1. What is the Brand and Model of the display in your U2442N?

    2. How hot does this laptop get during idle? How hot does this laptop get during full load?

    3. How many hours does battery last?

Can you ask the poster if there is any noticeable flex on the keyboard and overall build quality of the laptop? Thanks!

These questions are exactly what I had in mind! Maybe add a 1a. if you can't figure out the display's model tell us what you think of it?

so that Gigabyte u2442n only come in silver then ?
not a vanity thing but i think to give my laptops alot of a beating when using them, one of the reasons i like lenovo is the build and dark colours.

Would be worries with something like the u2442n, i would look
    wrecked after a few weeks
