If you can wait for coupons, you may do better price wise. I got my X220i for $750 shipped and the only upgrade I made was the IPS screen. Everything else is negotiable. The i3 offers plenty of performance. If the X220 is $100 more and you keep it three years, that's only $33 a year. Given that the X220 is a better notebook in almost every way, it seems worth an extra $33 a year. The screen I saw on the Toshiba was not very good.
I can definitely wait for coupons. And seeing how a lot of people recommend the x220, I will definitely keep an eye for coupons for it. Both the Toshiba and the Asus u36 seem to have issues with heat and that means problems in the future. I am still unsure about the u24e, this seems almost too good to be true, with a pretty good construction and a fast processor, I just wish there were more opinions on it. I guess at this point it's about quality of the construction and I have only 2 options - x220 and u24e.
