Sager NP9170 / Clevo P170EM - XOTIC PC - Sager Custom Gaming Laptop No question.
Add the 7970M.
Drop RAM down to 8gb 1333mhz (90% of users won't use more than 8gb and speed does not matter.) The Asus has more RAM, but RAM does not help in gaming, the GPU is the most important part.
You can then add a 120gb SSD as primary and 500gb HDD as secondary and come right in at $1700. You can choose to add an OS or not.mid 2009 MBP 13: 2.26 c2d || 500gb seagate momentus || 4gb 1333 || slappa hardbody pro carbon elektra review

Re: Is this build decent?
You could get a 670M for a lot cheaper, or something better for the same price. A 670M should max out every game you listed though, so I don't know if getting something more powerful is really worth it for you. Only advantage would be better frame rates that may or may not make a noticeable difference, and a better card would be more future proof. If you really like the design of the Asus, spending a bit more for it isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Re: Is this build decent?
I would also accept that the 670m should do just fine for all the games you have mentioned. The IC diamond upgrade is really not that necessary for a 670m hence you can actually skip that or get one later and apply it urself. The 7960m on the other hand is future proof but still I really wouldnt recommend you buying one unless you are going to be using the card to play games like say Witcher II, Metro 2033, Skyrim, BF3 etc.
The Asus G75 has the GPU soldered I believe hence that would be a straight NO. It is always recommended to get something that is upgradable at least in the GPU section as people generally upgrade based on the GPU a lot.XOTIC PC - SAGER NP9170

Re: Is this build decent?
Also if you somehow manage to fry the GPU then you can easily replace it on the clevo. On Asus don't forget the form factor as they have a larger cooling system so bigger than screen size lists... make sure to verify dimensions of actual size and you have a bag that can carry it.
