I really need help with this...
1) What is your budget?
below 2k the less the better
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
14" - 15"
3) Where will you buying this notebook? You can select the flag of your country as an indicator.
Puerto Rico
4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
Trying not to stick with a brand last time i did i paid dearly for it...
5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
Maybe if it has 3rd gen cpu and saves me atleast 200 then sure...
6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
I play every type of game from RTS to MMO im not picky with games untill i try them. Apart from that I use maya autodesk inventor autocad photoshop and other programs.
7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
Yes i need it to be portable i mean it Im staying at an apartment where i cant leave the laptop if i go out so i need it to be able to move at any given moment.
8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games?
Games yes orcs must die Terra skyrim batman games tons of indie games assassins creed splinter cell dawn of war etc etc anything i get suggested i guess
9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
4 to 6 hours no more than that no less than that when using Optimus and no less than 2 hours when using discrete only.
10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
Not really i guess it would help but i know when you customize most of the time this aint an option.
11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista or Windows 7), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
I got Windows Ultimate 7 here and i always dual boot with linux so i guess even if its a mac ill install them
Screen Specifics
13) Do you want a Glossy/reflective screen or a Matte/non-glossy screen?
I guess from my experience with a W520 mate would be cool or a glossy with an option to add mate screen protector not picky here
Build Quality and Design
14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
It would help since im paying so much for the thing but in the end no not important
15) When are you buying this laptop?
asap
16) How long do you want this laptop to last?
well ill make it last 4 years one way or another but realistically i only need it to last 3 years minimum untill i finish college
Notebook Components
17) How much hard drive space do you need; 80GB to 640GB? Do you want a SSD drive?
as much as i can get for my buck and no i dont need ssd dont really care for speed rather have more space.
18) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive?
DOnt really have a need for blu ray but if its an option i cant change ill take it only need cd dvd or none at all i guess in worst case scenario
Ok guys right now without any help ive gone down to 2 options the alienware m14x r2 and the sager/clevo p150EM
The only reason im stuck between the 2 is because first like i said i need this to be super portable because i cant leave it in my apartment but i know with sager i get more bang for the buck then again i need battery life and an easy to carry AC adaptor after the w520 i really dont want another brick please help me out here.

Re: I really need help with this...
Sometimes posts just slip through the cracks here. Most requests get a lot of helpful responses, but occasionally someone comes up unlucky like you seem to be doing.
For battery life, I'd keep an eye out for reviews of the p150EM - I understand that they support Optimus now (not sure about Enduro), meaning better battery life. How much battery life is worth looking into. The power brick is going to be large for any gaming computer, but since the M14x is now packing a 650m, which is relatively low-voltage for a higher-end mobile GPU, the adapter should be smaller for it. If you buy a Clevo, even if you stick with a lower-voltage GPU they'll probably ship a larger adapter by default, though you could replace it with something smaller.
An added benefit of going Clevo would be buying without an OS, thus saving a bit more money since you've already got your own copy of Win7 Ultimate. A higher-resolution screen would also be nice.
The strength of the M14x is that it's got a proven track record of getting great battery life, versus a Clevo that's just undergone some notable battery-saving updates but only offers limited data points there.Old - Inspiron 1420 - T7500, 8400M GS, 3GB DDR2, 250GB 5400 RPM, Win 7 HP 64

Re: I really need help with this...
Well right now the only thing that is keeping me from buying either of these is first weight i really dont have any feedback from anyone when it comes to weight I had a W520 with a 1 pound power brick which rounded up to 7.2pounds and I had to keep my backpack empty if i wanted to carry the laptop. Right now I wanna carry laptop tablet and if possible the chargers but i guess its true most laptops with good specs for gamming have a power brick.
The other reason for hesitating on the clevo is that it doesnt have kepler gpu would be cool if it had a 660m instead of the 670m and the alienware well its almost perfect if only it was 300 to 400 bucks less XD cause right now even their warranty is anoying.
Also i saw another laptop the y480 but the only thing that kills it is that it should have 900p resolution instead of a 720p and the fact that the 650m and 660m upgrade aint nowhere to be found....
P.S. how much battery life do the clevo on estimate have? i mean i really need minimum 4 hours for notes and CAD work

Also yeah sorry about the whole not helpful thing but i need to buy a laptop before August and i really need to get it like 1 month before to install all the programs and stuff so im really running out of options since these laptops dont have many reviews right now with good details(apart from the unboxing which everyone seems to do with benchmarks but no real test runs ....

660m is out for some re seller, so 660m should be available soon on model with 670m.
since you need a running machine around July, order in june should be enough for build time.Probably research in a re seller you like and contact them.

Re: I really need help with this...
I see but quick question the 660m should have a lower wattage drain right? compared to the 670m? Im really a hardcore gamer but i take battery life over FPS anytime for me a pc that can run all games in medium settings or higher is more than enough i dont require Ultra settings jejeje still from mythologic for the build i end up paying far more than from xotic similar only dif is this one has the 660m and the xotic doesnt...
