Like I said, FPS and 3PS. So any and all that come out, I want to be able to play them.

Yeah that's what I meant. What are some highly stressful applications? If someone was running applications that needed more than 3.1 GHz on four cores, wouldn't he most probably be at work and simply offload it onto a server? My point for asking is whether clock speeds are the only difference between these two or is the architecture significantly different as well? Like a 3.0 GHz dual core machine from 3 years ago will probably be much inferior to a 3.0G dual core from today. So is there any difference in architecture between the 36xx and the 37/38xx. I know the 39xx are different a bit. But I don't know about the others.

There is literally no difference between the 3 CPU's namely the 3610, 3720 and the 3820 except for the core clocks. All the three are based on the ivy bridge platform and offer the same features.

    Look here for further details.

Okay a final question about RAM. Does 1600 vs 1866 differ that much? Considering I will be putting an SSD in there, the faster memory should matter right? I wanted to know if it is worth getting a 1866 memory and paying about 60-100 bucks extra on it.

What about OCing the RAM? Would Sager care if that happened and an unrelated incident caused a problem and I sent it in?

You probably won't see any discernible difference between 1600 and 1866, save for a few benchmarks. I'd go for the cheaper 1600 ram.

I don't know how Sager is with overclocking the memory.

The 1333Mhz works like a charm. No noticeable difference between the 1333, 1600, 1866 in gaming. I would get the 1333 if I had a choice. if not stick with the stock ram provided its the least.

I was planning on getting it from Mythlogic. They do not offer the 1333. In fact, I believe none of the gaming laptop manufacturers offer 1333 memory anymore except for the 16GB upgrade (that too is only available from Sager and Malibal).

I am still having trouble understanding why a higher RAM speed will not affect anything. It is true that frequently, the CPU waits for the RAM to data to it. It is also true that the RAM waits for the HDD to supply data to it. If the HDD is an SSD, it is going to be fast enough that the only bottleneck in that link is the RAM. Faster the RAM, smaller CPU wait times. Or is there something that I am missing here?

Xotic offers 1333 RAM. You can also ask the reseller the downgrade the RAM if they have it, or get no RAM and buy it yourself.

Chk the above link for the 1333Mhz ram option.

What I meant is that the difference is hardly noticed. You might be able to draw out better numbers but you will hardly notice the difference is what I meant. It is like displaying more than 60 FPS on a 60 Hz monitor. It makes no difference as you cannot notice the difference though it is there. I hope this helps.

you are missing that the QPI aint bandwidth starved, thus the bottleneck since its already pre loaded (the game) is the gpu, thats going to be the weak link

AW build is really good. Best I've seen so far among gaming laptops.

Warranty/Tech Supports - I'm not sure where you got the idea about bad support but its actually the opposite. I am really impressed with how AW takes care of their customers based on what I read from the AW section and from personal experience.
The next-day tech support is the best in the market. If you have a problem with the parts, they will send you the replacement parts with the technician to replace it in your place. Other mfr will ask you to send them your laptop and you have to wait weeks for them to repair and send it back to you.

The price is not actually that high. This config will cost you $1899 from their site but if you call, you can usually get more discount from coupon codes etc.

Buyers normally get the base model as long as it has the 7970M and upgrade the parts on their own as its cheaper.
