Unfortunately I don't have any experience with hybrid drives. I'd recommend just doing a google search or cruising through some forums to see how well they work in other people's systems.

    Update: http://www.storagereview.com/seagate...t_750gb_review
There is a link for an in-depth review on the HDD. I didn't feel like reading through all of it, but you're welcome to do so and let me know what you find out!

As for the screen - If you really want this computer to last for FOUR years, I'd recommend using the money you'd put towards the screen and improving some hardware instead (esp. some hardware you can't upgrade later, like the CPU). It's nice to have an extra pretty screen, but the prettiest screen is no good if you're lagging like crazy on some new demanding game 2 years from now because your hardware can't keep up. Just my opinion though. I'm not as picky about my screen display personally.

    Good luck

Do not upgrade past the 3610QM as it makes no sense for gaming. The i7 quad core should be more than enough for your gaming needs.

As for the screens, every screen upgrade is worth it in some way or the other. The right ques here is not whether it is worth it but do u find the money invested in it to be affordable and more importantly of use. So chk out certain pictures and videos of the screens for ur self. I personally would just stick with the default screen. At the max I ed pick matte screen in case I use the laptop outside.

Thanks for the link IronCladRooster, plenty of information and performance data. Read through a good amount, and from what I can tell the hard drive performs well, not as good as some top-end SDDs, but not as expensive either.

I finally pulled the trigger, and bought the Sager NP9170 with the specs I listed in my previous post. Stayed with the 1333MHz 8GB of RAM and the i7-3610QM CPU. I didn't upgrade my display, I'm sure I'll be just fine with the base display.

I'm real excited to get a laptop that can be upgraded. The i7-3610QM is really the only piece of hardware I'm "stuck" with, so a year down the road if I need more GPU power it's a simple swap. Thanks again for the input. The wait is not going to be fun, my girlfriend is already annoyed at how much I'm borrowing her laptop and it's only been a couple days.

Congrats man! Hope you enjoy the new laptop. I'm fairly confident the CPU will last you a good while. After all it is a brand new technology and the mhz rate is pretty decent.

    Enjoy

I am sure you would find no reason to upgrade the CPU. Upgrading the GPU does make sense. The CPU hardly makes a huge difference in gaming and normal day to day use. Unless you are using it for Benchmarking or running very stressful applications I see no need for any upgrade at least for 3 yrs.

    Good Luck with your laptop
