The g75 spec wise I would choose over the gt70 in terms of next gen kepler 28nm graphics vs the 40nm gtx 670m.

Ah, it's too bad you have to order it in 2 weeks. or else the p170em w/ a 7970M would be absolutely beast.

I would choose the gt70 though, because the 660M is all about performance per watt and you don't seem to care about battery life :P

although you could get a p170em with a GTX 675M and maybe even an SSD for your budget.
    Old laptop: MacBook (Late 2009) Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz, 2GB DDR3 1066 MHz Ram, GeForce 9400M
    Current: (5/30) P150EM, i7-3610QM, 8GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM, AMD 7970M, Matte Screen, 750GB 7200RPM HDD

    P150EM w/ 7970M Review!

I wouldnt go with both as after spending 1800$ and not getting an Alienware if you still end up with a GPU < GTX 675m then it just doesnt seem right. Especially when your main use is going to be gaming. True the games other than BF3 that you mentioned hardly require the best GPU but still if you feel you might play other games in the future (which I am sure you will) then you are definitely gonna need a better GPU especially when you have such a big budget and are not interested in SSD. 2-3 yrs with a GTX 670m is not that bad but investing 1800+ in a laptop and still not being able to play games like Witcher II, Metro 2033, Skyrim, Arkham City etc.

The best thing for you to do would be to wait till the end of May and get a AMD 7970m as shipping start only aft May for the AMD card. If you are in a hurry and cant wait for such a great card, then at least get a GTX 675m.

If you feel you dont need that much GPU power and you wont be playing the games that I have mentioned ever in the next 2-3 yrs then I suggest you get a Sager/Clevo/MSI barebone with a GTX 670m or a 660m for below 1200 - 1300$.

Don't you want to try other brands like Sager? Its much better than those teo and you'll get a monster laptop for your budget. Try to look on the Sager NP9170, then upgrade it to 675m or 7970m. It will only cost you 1400-1500$ with the same/better spec than what you will buy. Plus you can upgrade the parts in the future unlike MSI and ASUS.

The gtx 660m is midrange, so what do you think? If you want real Kepler performance, wait for the 680m in the summer. It's worth the wait.
