    I know you said no to refurbed, but the Dell Outlet offers excellent value. Something like the e6520 is worth a look. It's well built and has three year warranty standard.

    What do you mean by "casual gaming"?

    as far as value per price goes, you have the Acer 5560G that now sells for 450$:
    Acer 5560G
    with Radeon 7670M, AMD Quad A6-3420M cpu and 4GB DDR3 memory.

    The best gpu you'll get for 600$ currently is the Radeon 6850M DDR3 version - which makes it much slower. B&H, search for "6850M". But you won't get good screen, speakers or build quality.
