I'm happy with your setup, sounds good. How much should I pay for a ssd on newegg or other places?

the crucial m4 256gb can be found on provantage for 241, there are other options, but avoid sandforce based drives at all costs

I highly recommend you haggle the crap out of dell

This is the same equivalent of your alienware at $1500

With a blueray player, more memory, 3g gpu ( although im knew to mobile gpu's so idk if amd is better, but i doubt there is any real visible, physical difference short of a stick length comparison )

    Thanks for this topic, i sold my G74 and wanted to know if i have to go for G75 ( here , 1500€ ) , or MSI with same GPU ( 1410€ here ) , or alienware with 7970 ( 1899 ... )

The real question was " aside from alienware stuff being cool , is there a real difference between 670 and 7970 " , seems like i'll need to go for alienware. My goal is to be above 60 FPS ALL THE TIME on BF3 , can the 670 handle this for ex ? It was impossible with my 560M, even on low.

You cannot play BF3 on ultra and 1920x1080 and expect 60+ fps with any other card but the 7970m possibly. The performance difference between the 7970m and the 670m is too huge to even talk about.

Instead of getting the Alienware why dont you try out brands like Sager? I wouldnt recommend getting one directly from them but try out resellers who would be ready to sell and service them in your country.

The NP9170/9150 would be a great choice with the 7970m and also pretty less expensive than the Alienware any day. For your gaming needs the 7970m is a must as no ther mobile card is capable of doing what you want in the single GPU solution of course.

I highly doubt a 7970M will be able to run BF3 at ultra over 60+ FPS. I don't think any laptop will cut it at the moment. I usually game on my desktop with i7 920@4.1GHz and GTX 580 OC'd, I still can't maintain 60+ FPS on BF3 at max settings. I need to SLI my GTX 580 just to be able to play that game in 3D. It's pretty demanding but the graphics look awesome once you have the hardware to run it at ultra.

BTW I'm in the same boath couldn't decide between the G75 with 670M and M17 this will be a work laptop for me but I need the hardware to run multiple virtual machines.
    M1530 T8300, 1440x900 LG, 8600GT DDR3, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, X-Fi recently died on me after 4 years.

I meant he cannot even begin to expect any other card to possibly deliver such fps if not for the 7970m.
