Re: Which gaming laptop should i buy
1800 is low as is. ANOTHER 300 is going to be difficult.
Also, getting a laptop to be kept in the country permanently and passing it through customs as a personal used laptop is illegal. It can be done sure but please do not post suggestions that go against the law in these forums. You could email the OP - I believe he has provided his email address - for such things.Alienware M17xR4 | Intel Core i7 3610QM | AMD 7970m | 12GB @1600 | Crucial M4 128GB + 500GB @7200rpm | Killer Wireless

Please don't talk about law here. It is as inappropriate as irrelevant, not to mention a point-of-perspective. I truly believe if it's his friend collecting the laptop, then it's as good as "Personally Used" and can be passed on... It's not like he's paying someone to smuggle drugs across the border! This is ridiculous!

Re: Which gaming laptop should i buy
Actually it is illegal. One cannot deny that. But that does not make it a serious offence as customs officials themselves know that people carry laptops everyday for their relatives or friends during every trip. They are more concerned about mass transport of such laptops or electronic goods that are smuggled through customs with the clear intention of selling the same for a good margin. One is not allowed to carry more than 1 laptop as per the customs rule. But still in India a lot of my friends have brought 2 laptops by suggesting one is their personal laptop and the other one is for office use. Also the customs officials are not really concerned about the normal individual who is buying a personal laptop. Hence this can be suggested here. But the wide practice of the same does not make it Legal

Ridiculous or not, it is true. Either ways, I do not like going off topic on posts. You want to evade duty that helps your own country, by all means.
OP already knows of his choices well. Spend more money and get an Alienware. Wait an undetermined amount of time until some laptop in India gets the 7970m. Or purchase some in India that come with a good enough GPU. From the manufacturers' India website, I cannot see any laptops that come with IVB or Kepler.Alienware M17xR4 | Intel Core i7 3610QM | AMD 7970m | 12GB @1600 | Crucial M4 128GB + 500GB @7200rpm | Killer Wireless

Re: Which gaming laptop should i buy
The best GPU offered in Indian laptops (apart from Asus or Alienware) would be the 630/540m of Nvidia and the 6770m of AMD. Considering the pace at which Indian brands are changing their GPU's I doubt our generation will be seeing the 7970m in any of the Indian brands

Re: Which gaming laptop should i buy
Honestly, OP I see no reason to get a new laptop that would do gaming. You have a desktop. Simply upgrade it. It would be way cheaper than a laptop that to begin with, has no options. Also, on ASUS India's website, I saw that they sell the G74. That came with a 560m I believe.

Re: Which gaming laptop should i buy
I believe he wants to game on the move too. Hence the idea of getting a laptop. I honestly think he can get an ASUS. It is not too bad a laptop. Yes it does not have a 7970m. But the only available brands are not offering warranty in India or are pretty expensive.
So he has to increase his budget or get what best he can in that budget of his. I think the ASUS G75 is a pretty decent deal with the 660m. It has an Ivy bridge 3610 QM too. So pretty decent for 1500$ and he gets warranty in India. I would say go for it. You cannot get the best out there. Hence settle for the best you can right now with your considerations and your budget. Simple.XOTIC PC - SAGER NP9170
