    Ca Gaming Laptop Comparisons

    Hi y'all, my very first topic in these forums yet I have been reading a lot and learned a bunch of things thanks to your detailed criticisms. I am looking forward to buy a new gaming laptop (upgrading from a horrible dell xps 3 yolds) and I would appreciate if you guys give me some insight about these specs;

    I am indeed waiting till May 1st to order because of Ivy Bridge;

    Alienware
    M14x
    14.0''
    i7-2670QM
    GT 650M 2gb DDR5
    8 DDR3 1600Mhz
    750gb 7200rpm
    Price: $1,299

    Asus
    G53
    15.6''
    i7-2670QM
    GTX 560M 2gb DDR5
    12gb DDR 1333Mhz
    750gb 7200rpm
    Price: $1,376

    Sager
    NP9150 - Xotic
    15.6''
    i7-2670QM
    GTX 675M 2gb DDR5
    8 DDR3 1600Mhz
    750gb 7200rpm

    can add ATI7970M+$200
    Price: $1,395

    Clevo
    P170EM - Prostar
    17.3''
    i7-2670QM
    GTX 675M 2gb DDR5
    12gb DDR 1333Mhz
    500gb 7200rpm

    can add ATI7970M+$100
    Price: $1,454

Final note, I will not probably wait for GPU upgrades such as 7970 and 680 because I want the laptop on diablo 3 release and of course 675m I think is more than capable of maxing out games on high setting for another 2 years-ish.

    Thank you once again

If you're going to get the Alienware M14x
    - The first thing to take into account is to ensure that your configuration includes the 1600x900 display upgrade. The stock 1366x768 display limits multitasking and productivity by making things onscreen large, and it has poor image quality due to low contrast. This upgrade should come at priority over any other upgrade such as the processor. The Alienware M14x shouldn't be bought in any configuration that doesn't include the 1600x900 display upgrade, unless you need a low resolution for eyesight-related reasons.
    - Second, don't upgrade to the 2GB version of the GT 650M, if that's an upgrade you're paying for. The extra memory by itself isn't going to make a noticeable difference for gaming, due to the core maxing out before 1GB of memory. And any difference it does make wouldn't really be worth the $100.

2gb on 650m comes with the deal I can't do nothing about it. And yes, I was of course thinking about getting 1600x900 display.

But overall, I need clear cut answers as to buy which one and for what reason over others.

These can include, product quality, chasis design, performance and portability.

    Thanks again

Are you crazy the 7970m is basically 80-100% more powerful the the gtx675m with similar power consumption. Anyway a 7970m will last until 2016 easily at the top while your 675m is struggling to play any game now at high settings at 1080p.

Difference between performance of 675m to 7970m is like the difference between a car that does 0-62 in 10 seconds to car that does 0-62 in 5 seconds while having the same mpg.
