Gigabyte P2542G vs. Lenovo Y580
Now this is an interesting combo.
Gigabyte P2542G main overview:
3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7 Quad-Core Processor
15.6" Full HD 1920X1080 LED backlight Display
DDR3 8GB Max.
HM77 Express Chipset
HD4000 + GTX 660M (Optimus)
Up to 256GB SSD, 1.5TB HD, (don't really care about this)
2 USB 3.0 Ports + aux ports.
2.6KG/5.73lb
Lenovo Y580 Overview:
i7 (donno what generation)
15.6" 1080p
8GB RAM DDR3 Max
Backlight keyboard
1TB HD max. Donno about SSD
Donno about ports
GTX 660M
5.95lb
There doesn't seem to be much difference, apart from the unknown parameters (580 could be using 2nd generation Core, for all we know. 480 is.) and it seems that Y580 has keyboard backlight (not sure if Gigabyte has it)
There's a .2lb weight difference. Gigabyte wins here.
Lenovo is slightly thinner, but the P2542G is slanted so it's average height is smaller but has a .1inch difference at its maximum.
Which one should I go for (or is there another choice similar to these two but lighter/more powerful? I'll be using it for everything from notetaking to programming to 3D to gaming, so i don't want it to become heavier than this.
GIGABYTE - Notebook / Slate & Device - Notebook & Netbook - P series - P2542G

Thanks guys!
EDIT: Buying in either the US or China.

Re: Gigabyte P2542G vs. Lenovo Y580
One of these is likely to be my next laptop, unless something with a 7870 comes out soon.

One of these is also likely to be my next laptop. Probably which ever comes out first. Does anyone know the release date on the P2542G?

Re: Gigabyte P2542G vs. Lenovo Y580
nothing on the P2542G - the entire internet is ignoring it >.> . I know that Y580 will come out in May, Y480 is already out and being sold on the Lenovo Shop.
7870M? is that a good/better Graphics card? I can't tell with those Radeon designations. I'd look at it if it's lighter, or the same weight.
There's also brand standing. Lenovo will have better service than Gigabyte... but is it worth the extra weight?
