Default new gaming laptop 6770m vs 7690m

    hey guys
im planning to get a new laptop inshAllah, and im stuck between a few HP models , which are roughly the same price. one is a dv6 with 6770m graphics and the other is an hp dv6 but with 7690m graphics.. i heard a few people say that the 7690m is better, but according to notebookcheck its the other way around.. was hoping u guys could help me decided which is the other..

also i think one of the dv6 models had the 7690m xt, but is priced somewhat more than the 6770m. so, id like to know if its worth it, i.e how the 7690m xt compares with the 6770m...

    thanks in advance..

7690 xt is the faster version hopefully with gdrr5 memory - 7690 is a rebadge of the 6550m clocked a little higher- you can review it yourself on notebookcheck and make your choice then-
    Acer 5560, A4-3400M 1.4-2.3 GHZ quad core , 8gb RAM, 15.6 LCD, 320 gb HDD, 6520
    g IGPU

    Thinkpad T-420 i7-2820qm 2.3 ghz 16gb ram, 160gb Intel SSD, 500gb 7200rpm HDD-ODD, NVS4200m (upgrade to egpu via express card slot), 14" 1600x900 LCD, 9 cell battery

    dosent the 7690m normal and 6770m have gddr5? :/

and, assuming that both have gddr5 (hp usually puts gddr5 memory in graphics cards), 7690m vs 6770m, how much of a performance difference.. cause i dont really completely trust notebook check..

like, as an example, for 7690m xt, theve got two laptops with a 43 fps and 48 fps in deus x at high settings, and the one giving the lower fps have a 2gb card while the other has 1 gb :/...

similar case for the 6770m , for starcraft 2 at high, 39 fps and 55.1 fps for two laptops that should give the same fps...

There is really no difference between the 7690M XT and the 6770M. I would go with which ever ones cheaper, but make sure if you get the DV6 to get the 1080p screen. Thats very important.

naa, dont really need a 1080p , plus that'll go above my budget.. any ways ya i was reading around that the performance is praticaly the same, but in regards to power consumption, overclock capability (although i dont really plan to overclock), heat produced and drivers are they also equavelent?

You should be getting the 1080p display unless you have eyesight-related issues that require large text. Not just because of how good the 1920x1080 display is, but because of how bad the 1366x768 display is.

The stock 1366x768 display is terrible. 15.6" 1366x768 displays make multitasking and productivity difficult, and require a lot of scrolling, because they make things onscreen large. Low-end displays like this also tend to have very poor image quality due to low contrast.

The 1920x1080 display far supercedes the 1366x768 display both in quality and in multitasking/productivity capability. In addition, the HP's 1920x1080 display has a matte/anti-glare finish which makes it more usable when glare is a potential issue.

If it's an issue of budget, keep in mind that the only specs you really need to focus on when getting a DV6 are the Radeon 7690M GPU and the 1920x1080 display. No other spec, such as the processor, should get in the way of these two. It is more important to have the 1920x1080 display than it is to have a Core i7.

You can get an HP DV6z with the Radeon 7690M and the 1920x1080 display for $724. The base A6-3420M should be enough such that, when coupled with the Radeon 7690M, it won't pose a bottleneck for the performance of the majority of gaming.

Follow this link to a saved configuration of the HP DV6z with the Radeon 7690M GPU upgrade and the 1920x1080 display upgrade and apply coupon code NBY5634 to take off $50 and make it $724. If that expires, use $25-off coupon 25LOGICBUY to make it $749

honestly speaking, i totally agree with u, but thing is im not in the US, and where i live, laptops are like about 15% more expensive anyways, and further more, they dont have a whole lot of models here either..
they dont have amd processors in the market, to start with (ya i know), and its hard enough to enough to find a good graphics card with an i5 (they usually come with with an i7 only),and they dont have full hd screens without a fully loaded i7 (i.e the only full hd i could find was i7+8gb+1tb+bluray for about $1200).

i could get one from US, but im in kind of a rush (since my old laptop has been dead for 3 weeks now and i REALY need a new laptop)...

so ya, really appreciate the advice, but thats my depressing story.but anyways ive been using a 1366x768 resolution LCD (not even an LED) for the past, like 2 or 3 years, so im very used to it..

so getting back to the subject ,

in regards to power consumption, overclock capability (although i dont really plan to overclock), heat produced and drivers are the 6770m and 7690m xt also equavelent? also, do all the dv6 have 7690m xt?

I believe the 6770M and 7690M XT are essentially equivalent.

But what country do you live in and which sites are you looking at to buy a laptop from?

also, ive been browsing for quite some time and trust me there really isnt a much better one.. but anyways since u asked, these are the sites, and 1 dollar is equivalent to about 91.5 RS, and im from Pakistan.:

the 6770m and the 7690m are the same card.

and yes the 6770m is the same chip as in the 6630m, 6650m, 6750m, 6770m, 7690m, the difference is in the clocks and the use of either DDR3 or GDDR5

The 6550m has nothing to do with anything, its a rebrand of the 5650m
