Re: new gaming laptop 6770m vs 7690m
Those scores on notebook review are nonsense. I just did a vantage run on my 6770m stock and i got 7132 AMD Radeon HD 6770M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,Hewlett-Packard 1657 score: P7132 3DMarks
overclocked it hits 8121. AMD Radeon HD 6770M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,Hewlett-Packard 1657 score: P8121 3DMarks
The 7770m is at like 10000dv6tqe | i7-2630QM | 1GB GDDR5 6770M | 6GB DDR3 RAM | Intel 320 160GB SSD
| 1920 x 1080 LED Display | Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner| Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless-N 1102

Re: new gaming laptop 6770m vs 7690m
You cannot call those scores nonsense by posting your own score. Those scores were done in a careful testing environment, most likely with several runs through each score. The machines were carefully picked so that there would be no particular advantages with respect to other hardware in those machines. As for the 7690, the GDDR5 version is a 6770 clocked up 100 mhz, to clear that issue up. My suggestion to the owner of this thread would be to invest in the new ivy bridge PC's, as the processors by themselves can give you a reasonable fps on SC2. Whether you bundle them with a graphics card is your decision. On that note, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANY HP LAPTOP WITH A SWITCHABLE GRAPHICS NVIDIA GRAPHICS CARD. DO NOT GO THERE. I have tried playing minecraft on it, and the drivers it came with are ancient, won't support openGL. Not only that, but you can't even UPGRADE them because RADEON will not support them and HP does not have new ones developed. Basically put, invest in Nvidia 600 series. The 630 and 650 should be more than enough to get you the gamin power you need, at a slight increase in price from the customizations i've looked through. There is no driver problem and Nvidia's Optimus is more developed than the AMD Switchable graphics option.
Conclusion: If getting an ivybridge with Nvidia graphics isn't an option for you budget wise, invest in either an ivybridge running on integrated graphics or a cheaper sandy bridge model running radeon's 6770 or 7690. Don't underestimate the performance of Ivybridge, while it may not rival current graphics cards, it still pulls its weight in delivering acceptable performance when compared to the sandy bridge integrated.

Actually posting my own scores does make those scores bogus because they don't show the true potential of the machine. its common knowledge that you should take notebook review scores with a grain if salt. Also I play minecraft easy. HP fixed that problem long ago.
