Cheap Laptop. Mainly for Web browsing and Movies
A friend of mine is looking to buy a cheap laptop. Not a major computer guy, so mainly for facebook and movies I reckon. Can anyone reccomend a cheap, decent bang for buck machine?
Many Thanks,
Mark

This is honestly the best I could find for your budget. I mean, you're planning on spending around 300 dollars on a laptop, so obviously it's going to be terrible. This will be good for what you're going to be doing with it so take a look at this. It's a refurb business class-ish laptop.

Since i am not a big fan of Dell I would like to recommend the ThinkPad T61, an (older) competitor. This one used and shows some signs of it, but there is nothing more reliable than a ThinkPad. My 600X is already 12 years old and runs even better than on the first Day.

Re: Cheap Laptop. Mainly for Web browsing and Movies
These two requirements are mutually exclusive because 15.4" is 16:10 whereas 1366x768 is 16:9. I recommend the Thinkpad T60 with 15.4" 1680x1050. Another good 15.4" Thinkpad is the Z61p, though it's rather heavy.
Avoid T61 Thinkpads that use Nvidia graphics. T61's with Intel graphics are okay, however.Panasonic Toughbook CF-Y7 (SXGA+, 3.34lb)
