Looking for a 13" to Replace my Vaio Z
I've had my Vaio Z for 4 years now, at the time I think it was the best Laptop around in a 13" form factor..Apart from the price..
I looking for a 13" laptop that's thin, fast and does not overheat..
SSD
USB 3.0
SD card slot
4gb Ram
Is a must for me.. Although I could install a SSD drive after and I don't use a DVD drive anymore..
I'm not considering the new Z models, I don't like the way there designed, like using an external dock which has more graphics power..
Budget: $2500 max

I would wait a bit since Ivy bridge is just so close, but you could try importing a lg p330.
Since we dont know what you do with your pc, we could try some of the already released ultrabooks or wait for the new models to arrive.

Re: Looking for a 13" to Replace my Vaio Z
I've heard Ivy Bridge is being delayed for Windows 8 to launch, then hearing Windows 8 is being delayed.. It's hard to keep up.. I'll guess I wait.
Thanks for the reply.

Thinkpad X220 is a good in terms of portability (12.5 inch) and an IPS display.

Re: Looking for a 13" to Replace my Vaio Z
I was also recently trying to decide between the MBA 11:, 13" or an ultrabook or hte X220....I have friends with all of them so I could try them all out for a while. The X220 is the best for sure. The thinness is nice, but the footprint is more important to me, and the X220 is almost as light, but way more powerful and durable than the rest.
Lenovo X220 - i7-2640M - 8GB RAM - 160GB Intel SSD - IPS screen - Intel 6205 - webcam - 6 cell + slice - Win 7 Pro
Black Dell XPS M1330 - T7500 - 4GB OCZ RAM - 160GB 7200 HD - LED - FP READER - BT - INTEL AGN WIRELESS - WIN 7 Ultimate 64-bit / Linux Mint 12

Re: Looking for a 13" to Replace my Vaio Z
almost anything is, its a chunk of aluminum, one of the most ductile metals there is and has absolutely no framework inside, the skin IS the whole chasis.
i bend, warp, or break a minimum if 1 MBP/year, laptops like the x220 and other business class units have a magnesium framework that the vitals are wrapped in then an outer skin which can crack or break in cheap units, but good units have carbon fibre or high grade polymers which are super durable. ( some have metal skin over metal frame too)
its purely marketing and aesthetics, and a good way to have a hot running laptop
now if you want to see SUPER durable look up a toughbook CF-31
