Default $1100 Clevo Gaming Laptop - Bang for Buck?

Strongly considering purchasing this product. I plan on using it for 4-5 years, and will upgrade the GPU in the future (if needed).

Is this a good bang for buck? It's $1104 after a coupon. Basically need to know if this is a bad buy for reasons I am missing?

    ProStar W150ERQ:

    Intel Core i7 2670QM (2.2-3.1)
8 GB 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM (Will probably upgrade to 12 Gb in future)
    GeForce GT 650M with Optimus
750Gb HD @ 7200 RPM (Will upgrade to a SSD in future)
    Windows 7 64 Bit

    Attached image is specs.

I don't think that model has an MXM card so you wont be able to upgrade the GPU later on.
You need a clevo model that's not thin and light, something in the P series, if you want to upgrade.

I was trying to find if it had an MXM and thought it did. Well that ruins everything. And regarding ivy bridge I need the laptop by May 9th, so I don't know if I can wait

Ivy bridge doesn't mean too much to someone that has a dedicated GPU.

Why not go for a clevo P151EM, with maybe lower specs, update the CPU and GPU in that later on down the line. Could possibly last 5 years that way.

That's what I've been looking at for a while, but didn't notice that the laptop I listed was a GT instead of a GTX. I believe the P151EM is the same as the Sager NP9130...

I can get similar specs for $1335. Guessing that's the best option, and I get a GTX 670M which should last a while. Was just hoping to shave a few hundred off the price right now (but I can't downgrade to a 2630QM or a lower GPU on the P151EM, what I have equipped is below basically what's viable)

Have you tried sending an email and negotiating the price?
    Never know, it could work.

I will probably be purchasing the NP9130 from PowerNotebooks as their customer service is excellent and I will hopefully be able to ask for a small discount somewhere.

But most importantly, they are based in Nevada, and thus have no sales tax! +Rep to you btw

Don't buy Clevo if you want to upgrade. Clevo recently announced that they will not be adding support for newer GPUs on older systems.

Much better to go with MSI or another brand that has correct MXM structure to begin with.

Is it just a rumor that someone from this board posted from a "source" (that's all i could find trying google?) or is it announced/confirmed?

I'd rather not go MSI because Clevo is better built, but if I have to...sigh.
