Default Need a beast of a PC, without the bulk.

    What is your budget?
    $1500.00

What country will you be buying this in?
    United States

What size notebook do you prefer?
    Thin and Light (13 - 14-inch screen)
    Mainstream (15 - 16-inch screen)

Would you consider a refurbished laptop?
    No

What are the primary tasks you need this notebook for?
Web Surfing, Office and Productivity Software, Listening to Music, Video Chat and Conference, Movie Streaming and Viewing, Output Video to TV or Large Monitor, Casual Gaming, Graphic Intense 3D Gaming

What games will you be playing?
I'd like to have BF3/Swtor playable. I don't care if I am not able to run them on max settings. That would be nice, but I built a monster rig for that.

Where will you be using this laptop?
Will be used different places and Will stay on desk

How many hours of battery life do you need?
    5

Will you be buying online or in store?
    online

    Which OS do you prefer?
    Windows 7

List the screen resolutions that interest you:
    Standard Resolution (1366 x 768)
    High Resolution (1600 x 900)

Do you prefer a glossy or matte screen?
    Glossy or Matte is fine

Is the laptops design important to you?
    Yes

Approximately what date will you be buying this laptop?
    Around 06/01/2012

How long do you want this laptop to last?
    2 years

How much storage capacity do you need?
    500 GB

Are you interested in SSD for storage?
    Yes

Do you want a built-in optical drive, what type?
    No

Currently, I am running around with a 2 year old M15x. It's heavy, loud, flashy and has horrible battery life. I'm looking for a slim, light, and portable system (Below 5 lbs if possible) with gaming laptop like benefits. I don't mind waiting for ivy bridge and would prefer a 600M series gpu (No AMD please). I would also prefer an SSD; a system with both an SSD and HDD would work also.

I almost purchased the LG p330 until I found out it was not backlit, this is a must for me. Right now I am looking at the Gigabyte U2442V ultrabook but don't like the throttled dual core cpu. If the Gigabyte system had a quad core processor with a GT 650m, I would be much happier.

    Any ideas guys?

    Thanks in advance everyone!

Im sure you have looked at the Alienware M14x option already. Doesnt supply the power as the M17x r3, does have a smaller footprint and will game very well.

Sagar NP8151 has tons of power options but weights about 6.8lb.

Coming from a previous M15x owner anything below 7lb you should find very portable. M14x feels like a paperweight compared to my old m15x.

wait for the gt 650m models to come through, there are several options out there, and the 650m is a little bit slower than the 560m comparing vantage scores

No longer interested in a flashy laptop. I want something simple and sleek. I don't want anything as bulky and heavy as an Alienware/Sagar anymore.

several... its a mid range card, several models already reported the gt 640m, inlcuding a acer ultrabook. we also hope that its the card in the t430u ultrabook

meaning its a low tdp card, and its the base for the 660m, however the latter uses gddr5 instead of ddr3.

Completely understand. At times I reach the same conclusion.

The acer can't compete with the gigabyte imo. I just wish ultrabooks had better processors. The Lenovo looks interesting, I don't understand why they haven't ditched the old school cursor, lol.

The P2542g is too thick, but the asus looks nice. Anyone have the specs on it?
